Uudet omistukset toukokuusta 2017 lähtien. Charlestonin historiallisen alueen sydämessä sijaitseva Southern Comfort on telakoitunut Charleston Cityn satamaan ja alle 50 metrin päässä meidän aidatusta pysäköintialueesta.

Olemme 3 korttelin päässä Historiallinen akku ohi rannikkovartiostoasemalta ja kuusi "kaupungin korttelin" Meeting Street ja Market Area.

Akron upeista arkkitehtonisista kodeista ja eteläisimmistä ravintoloista, taide- ja antiikkiliikkeisiin, Charleston on paikka, joka ei ole mikään muu paikka.
Tämä asuntolaiva sijaitsee vain lyhyen kävelymatkan päässä kohteesta Historic Rice Mill. Majoituspaikka tarjoaa esimerkiksi pyykinpesutilat.

Upon arrival at the Marina, the host was tardy and greeted us with a conversation on his cell phone. We followed him to the location of the boat carrying our luggage. The host introduced himself as David and provided a brief tour of the vessel, demonstrating how to flush the toilets. Initially, the boat appeared orderly, but the host only delivered a lecture on the misbehavior of previous guests.That evening, we discovered the boat to be filthy and disorganized. Additionally, we were informed that the top floor, which featured an outdoor seating area, was unavailable. There was an unpleasant odor emanating from all the closets and hallways of the boat. The host failed to provide us with the WiFi password or any passes for parking, which cost 14 per day.In summary, the experience was unsatisfactory, and I would not recommend it for a second stay.

This was a yacht experience with some challenges. To start, the marina where the boat is launched is not a lively marina. There is absolutely nothing around within walking distance. It’s nice to be out of the city and to hang in a quiet setting but just know that you will have to take a car anytime you want to do anything. And, every-time you come and go, you are paying an hourly rate for your parking. It adds up!!The kitchen is not equipped for cooking and with nothing around, you might want to do some cooking. Utensils are a drawer of odds and ends, many broken, old, well used. Pot & pans second hand. There is no salt, pepper, oil, sugar, coffee, nothing. The outdoor cushions were not put out and are pretty dirty. Putting them out was challenging, There was no shampoo, soap, bath mat, or kitchen linens. If light bothers you at night, this place will be your challenge. The blinds don’t open/close and light seems to be coming through in all directions. (We noticed on our last night that you see directly into the master shower from the dock.)Not having a key to lock the doors felt a little uncomfortable as all of our belongings were completely exposed in an unknown area. It’s an older boat, showing its age but Captain Dave really does want to please. Communication is excellent. The place is very clean. There was plenty of space. The bed in the master is very comfortable. Towels are great, as are the sheets. Just know what to expect.

Southern Comfort is a romantic dream and an adventurous way to visit Charleston. However we were surprised that the boat owner was not present as stated and we did not get a boat tour. The boat entrance was a surprise as we have been on many yachts that you enter from a side swinging door from the swim platform but this boat has narrow steep stairs (about 8) to enter so be aware with luggage it's difficult. The owner was responsive with every need we had but the situation was challenging because the the thermostats were removed so when each room needed adjustments we were unable to do so causing some to be comfortable and others to be cold. The boat is a rental but there was junk piled up in the helm area and we feel that the whole boat should be clean.The extra supplies were scattered around the boat and there was no directions or rental manual except to take out the trash. We were told to only push the "green button" in the head. The bow head had no green button and the toilet was very sluggish, so the person in that room had to use other heads. Docked boats make noise and that bothered some on the boat as the bilge pump, air conditioning etc. work 24/7, if you are a light sleeper be aware. Overall the boat is nice and we enjoyed sitting out on the deck. Of note: Parking is 22 dollars for 24 hours but if you leave you have to start your 24 hours all over.

Unique Property!

Our friends had a great time. The rooms are small other than the master, and be prepared to handle the quirks of being on a boat, but this is definitely a stay you won’t forget!

Yacht review

We were welcomed by Captain Dave on the dock at the marina and he walked us to the Southern Comfort. He gave us a hurried introduction to the idiosyncrasies of a floating B&B and quickly left to attend to another charter. We would have benefited from more details about how to get our luggage on board, how to contact the dock office, and checkout procedures. He never told us there is no way to lock the yacht on departure.The beds were made and ready for guests. Kids will enjoy sleeping in the bunk beds. The cabin with twin beds has no window covering, so we used pillows to block the glare. One of the toilets was blocked. There were three others in working order. There were plenty of nice body towels.The yacht is 0.25 mile from the parking lot. There are luggage carts or the dock office will arrange people to take your luggage in a golf cart. Please tip them. The stairs into the yacht are narrow and difficult for anything other than small bags. Be sure to pick up drinking water before boarding.The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and glassware. There were no dish towels. The only paper products were toilet paper and paper towels. Only one sink had hand soap. There is a coffee maker.You can walk to King Street in about 35 minutes.We enjoyed the living space and especially having coffee on the top deck in the morning.

Below Deck

Such a cool experience to stay on a yacht! Captain Dave was very responsive. The coffee pot was unusable so he promptly went out and bought a brand new which was most appreciated. I was surprised that you couldn't feel the movement (rocking) of the yacht at all. I would highly recommend staying on Southern Comfort!

Girls Weekend Getaway

Perfect place for our girls weekend. Location is great as well. We each had our own room and bathroom which was a plus. It was so nice to sit in the living room each morning while having our coffee telling stories about the night before. Salty Dogs is a great hole in the wall to start your nightly adventures. Be sure to bring towels and paper products as toilet paper and paper towels were limited. Enjoy!

Weekday fishing trip

Owner came on the property without warning while we were away. Totally against VRBO . Air conditioning went out and owner completely lost his composure . We left a day early.

Something Different

It's a great way to experience something different. It's a boat understand what your booking. Master suite was excellent, galley has plenty of space, and solon is well appointed. Flybridge gives you a nice outdoor space to hang out.

Unforgettable Experience

We had a wonderful weekend on the Southern Comfort. Sitting on the fly bridge was so perfect that we did not to want to leave to go to downtown Charleston. Sleeping accommodations other than in the main bedroom are very cramped for people taller than 5’8”.
