Disappointing 2nd stay (loved the first stay)

I had stayed here before and had a great time, but I was disheartened that this stay was not as good as my previous stay in 2021 nor when I stayed at Freehand's sister property in LA. While the interior design had a lot of seating, the music in the lobby was "2010 Abacrombie and Fitch" loud and distracting from conversations from the people next to you. In the hotel, I had the bunk room compared to the single room like last time. Storing food is difficult unlike at the LA Freehand which is a more true hostel with a community kitchen than Chicago so it is eating out every night. There is no kitchen in Chicago. In the room, the roommates were good, but the A/C didn't work which I hope Freehand Chicago addressed after I left. Chicago was very warm and muggy during my week in the city and the room matched the warmth. If you looking for a private room here for a night, this is a fine place. But if you are looking to hostel, consider your food budget and research the other businesses carefully. I would say this as a hotel, but not a hostel style stay.

Was overall great place to stay at. Location is perfect, staff friendly. Too bad was only informed there wasn’t any hot water to shower until checking in. Was too late then to find another place to stay so cold showers for 3 days. ( was offered refund if not staying upon checking in) choose to stay
