Historic hotel, lots of glamour, beautiful ballroom, big rooms, beautiful views of the fountain and lake, wonderful staff. The only suggestion, and this sounds petty, but the tv was smaller than expected. It was ok to watch though, not a major issue at all.

Such sweet staff and such a fun old place! I love these historic hotels! If you’re looking for latest technology and updated furniture, look elsewhere. But old fashioned style and sweet people abound. Also SO easy to get everywhere by bus, train, walking and biking. They took such good care of our bikes!

The Congress Plaza has very poor air conditioning. They offered us fans and sent a maintenance man but there was nothing they could do. The whole hotel was poorly cooled. Each rooms fixtures vary from door locks to security boxes to TVs and those are tiny. People complain about the condition of the hotel but I’d take old water damaged wall trim over a warm room any day. I’ll give them 2 stars for their uniqueness but they should make people aware that the rooms are in no way refreshing or comfortable. This hotel should come with a warning sign.

The room we were in the air conditioning was struggling to keep up. The room was very warm even though the setting was on high. The bed was comfortable though. The bathroom door did get stuck and it took a lot of muscle to open it up. After that we just didn’t close the door completely going in.

We would stay here again for sure. Perfect location. Pretty much in the middle between Navy Pier and Shedd Aquarium. Housekeeping was nonexistent. Had to go downstairs for towels.
