Escape the grind on this piece of Whidbey Island paradise.

Spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains and sunsets over Puget Sound. Private beach with no-bank access and ample watersport and sandy beach fun. Custom built home is perfect for couples and families, with ample indoor and outdoor space to play or relax.

Maxwelton Beach is one of the largest west facing beaches (i.e. perfect for sunsets) on Whidbey Island with long sand flats, tidal pools and miles of beach combing, clamming and crabbing opportunities. Just south of the house you can walk for miles along undeveloped and protected beaches. Right in front is perfect for playing in the sand, making drift wood forts or launching your kayak, canoe or paddle board. Also excellent for spotting wildlife - from bald eagles, osprey, seals, otters and even the rare orca.

Inside the custom built home, the open floor plan lends itself to sweeping views from the kitchen, dining and living rooms. Custom woodwork and natural beach rock fireplace lends warmth while the large open kitchen is well stocked for every culinary pursuit. The living room boasts a large leather couch and rocking chairs, perfect for watching your favorite movie or simply enjoying a crackling fire. There is also a kiddie play area with play kitchen, loads of duplo legos and various other toys.

Three bedrooms provide sleeping space for 6 guests. Upstairs, the spacious master bedroom overlooking the beach has a king bed, walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The room also acts as the perfect office, with a beautiful antique desk facing the beach. The peaceful downstairs bedroom has a queen while the addition bedroom upstairs is perfect for two children with a twin pull-out trundle bed. A separate bath is complete with tub & shower. The home also has free WiFi for guest use. Young families are very welcome; in addition to the multitude of children toys (including sand toys for the beach) and games, the house has a baby cot and high chair.

Outside, the large lawn area is great for ball games while the patio has a Webber propane grill, large outdoor tables with chairs, loungers and umbrellas. The back orchard has an abundance of apples & pears in late summer and autumn which guests are welcome to pick. Finally the beach, steps away has a fire pit, perfect for roasting marshmallows and making smorzes as you watch the sun slowly set over Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains beyond. Truly a slice of heaven for all the senses.

What a great view!!! This home has windows that don’t stop and was so clean. We were so impressed. The beach accessibility was amazing and we enjoyed walks a number of times a day. We love Whidbey Island and this is just a great jumping off point. We also liked that our host was very easy to contact. We look forward to returning soon.

This home was one of the best vacation rentals we've ever stayed in. The location is amazing: right in the edge of a sandy, no-bank beach with incredible views, and easy access to the driftwood-covered shore, waves, tide pools, and a sandbar. The weather was unseasonably warm and sunny for mid-April (lucky us!) and our whole family enjoyed being on the beach during our weeklong stay. For anyone traveling with young children, this house has SO many toys: Magna-tiles, Duplo blocks, a huge wooden train set, play kitchen, sand/beach toys, children's art easel, etc., along with a shelf full of children's books and lots of games and puzzles. While the weather allowed us to spend a lot of time outside on the beach, my kids had just as much fun indoors as well. The house is not only well-stocked with the things you expect (pots and pans, beach towels, laundry supplies, etc.), it also has all the little things you don't always find in a vacation home: Kleenex in every room, complimentary toiletries (and coffee!), plastic wrap and aluminum foil in the kitchen for leftovers, access to basic cleaning supplies if you need them, rag towels and outdoor buckets for washing off sandy feet, etc. Clearly the owners stay here frequently themselves and have thought of all the little things that make your stay easier and more enjoyable.David was so easy to work with and super prompt to respond whenever we had a question. This house immediately felt like home. My 3 and 5yr old kids ran to the slide in the yard and all the toys inside. It was such a clean and comfortable beach house, I am blown away! Everything I reached for was there. I absolutely loved cooking in the kitchen, it was very well appointed. My kids loved the "love heart" beds, the sand toys and books. The beach was beautiful and you could get a solid 5 mile walk in. It was very quiet and peaceful. David was very communicative and a wonderful host. We can't wait to book this lovely home again! 10/10 amazing.

We had a wonderful time staying here for four nights. The house is super clean, and we found all the rooms to be comfortable. The kitchen is large and had everything we needed plus more to cook. Having the beach so close and being able to enjoy the incredible views is what made our time here super special. We loved seeing the mountains across the water and watching for seals to pop their heads up. With the great house, quiet neighborhood and responsive host I highly recommend staying here.

Wow. What a home. We were able to work with the host for an earlier check in time, it was more beautiful than the pictures could show, it was an easy journey from SEA Intl. and we’ve never stayed at a more well-stocked home. There was everything you could need there, from the kitchen, to kids toys and books, to towels and beach toys, a stair gate for any crawling babies, vacuums, soaps and clean detergents, etc. Especially wonderful was how clean everything was without smelling like Fabuloso… I’m extremely sensitive to smell and it was both incredibly clean -and- entirely unscented. No Febreeze, no fabric softens, not plug-ins. Just *clean*!

We had another lovely stay at David’s beach house! This was our fourth stay and is becoming an annual tradition. The house has plenty of space, is well-appointed, has comfortable beds, right on the beach, and the views are amazing! We love enjoying all the beach has to offer including paddleboarding, exploring low tide, watching the ships go by, and having friends join us for a day at the beach. We already want to plan our trip back next summer! We only hope we can stay longer next time.

Perfect family getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay here. We appreciated that it was extremely family friendly — outdoor and indoor toys for the kids, highchair, and pack and play! My Birthday at the Beach

Oh my! We had the most delightful time. I counted and we have stayed at 6 different vacation rentals on Whidbey Island and this one is the best! Overall this house had everything we needed and we really enjoyed our stay. The view and beach are hard to beat. It would have been nice to have the lawn mowed and the wooden ramp to the beach is an injury waiting to happen…these were our only two minor suggestions to make it even better.

The house was just as described. The house is well-equipped, clean, and worked nicely for our family. Lots of toys and games for the kids. The house is located right on the beach - you do have to climb over some driftwood to access it but it wasn’t a problem for us including our six year old and grandma. The main bedroom is very large with a beautiful view and private bath.

Wonderful stay between the holidays
