Great hotel in every aspect

Check in was quick, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Room was roomy, clean and comfy. WiFi was stable. Easy access to parking by elevator. Breakfast is included, and the options are great and tasty. Their location is central and convenient. I have stayed with them multiple times.

Hotel was wonderful. GPS brought us to the parking in the back so it was difficult to find and getting out onto the main road is difficult but the hotel itself is absolutely wonderful

Review of hotel

I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Upon arrival, I discovered a hairball on the shower floor, indicating that the bathroom had not been cleaned properly. I called reception for assistance, but they were fully booked and unable to change my room, so I had to clean it myself. Later that night, I was disturbed by loud noises in the hallway—teenagers running around, banging on doors, and causing quite a commotion. I reported this to the front desk, and they assured me they would address the situation, as other guests had also complained. I was told that if the noise continued, I should report it again. As a gesture of goodwill, they mentioned I would receive a discount or loyalty points upon checkout for the inconvenience. When I checked out, I presented photos of the dirty bathroom and reiterated my concerns about the noise. Although the reception staff acknowledged the issues, the best they could offer was loyalty points. I agreed to this, but despite the promises made at both check-in and check-out, I have yet to receive the points or any form of compensation. It seems that the hotel may not prioritize guests who book through third-party apps, as both the check-in and check-out staff expressed a preference for direct bookings. Overall, I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously, and the lack of follow-up on the promised points shows a disregard for customer satisfaction.

It’s just OK. I’ve stayed in Best Western’s throughout North America and my experience here was substandard. The desk manager was somewhat unfriendly and although my room was relatively clean, I found the bed and pillows to be uncomfortable. I would likely stay elsewhere if I return to Courtenay.
