Skeleton Crew Struggles
You know when you head to the pool that has eight people in it, and find only two towels, there are going to be problems.
Alas, Hyatt Place has gone down that common road of badly understaffing, and it affects nearly every service they offer.
The restaurant concept they are trying to explore is more or less their lobby with a few tables. The server? The front desk employee. So what happens when 12 people show to check in, and there are multiple dinner guests, and there is no bartender, nor extra water jugs for tables? The answer is both predictable and a little sad: the experience just wasn't a great one. Why is there only one water jug? A fellow at the bar asked for an Old Fashioned. Answer: "I don't know how to make one." Well, if you can't make an Old Fashioned, one questions whether you really have a bar at all. You appear to have the spirits for it. You have the Internet. Go look it up.
The room was fine, though the AC unit doesn't let you keep the fan going all the time. It has presets that turn off once the 19 degrees are reached, then turn on when the temp hits 19.1, So, the AC is constantly going on and off if you are looking for cool air.
Breakfast was bedlam. The complimentary breakfast was fine in terms of quality, but the lack of staff struggled to keep up with the demonic hoards crushing all-you-can-eat waffles.
The Hyatt is fine... but only just. Quit cutting corners with staffing.
There are better hotels for the same price on this strip in West Ed.
