This is a superb hotel. We stayed for 4 nights in December and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The prison conversion has been accomplished to a very high standard with loads of original features incorporated: cast iron stairs, the chapel and even an isolation cell. The rooms were warm and comfortable, being decorated to a high standard. Breakfast was included at our rate and proved to be excellent with plenty of choice, including Finnish specialities. We ate dinner at the hotel on 2 occasions as it was included and suited our plans. It was a buffet and perfectly pleasant, but not exceptional. Fika (afternoon tea and cake) was a lovely touch and very welcome on a cold day. Staff were friendly, helpful and naturally spoke faultless English. The number 4 tram stops right outside and takes you directly to the city centre at least every 7 minutes.

A really great hotel all round - location (right on the tram route), facilities (lovely room, hotel history/theme) and everything included in the rate (breakfast/fika/dinner). The staff are really helpful and enthusiastic and nothing is too much trouble. Can't fault the whole experience - so glad we stayed here!

Unique hotel, comfortable and clean room, nice decor in room and throughout. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and we also enjoyed the dinner and fika each day, all included. Convenient, easy to walk to key sites and Christmas markets and we also enjoyed the sauna and playing chess in the lounge.

The hotel is very quirky being a converted prison! Cells have been converted to rooms & are very comfortable. The staff are excellent & attentive. The food is traditional & very good. Breakfast has a lot of choice & dinner was included if you had what they served for that evening which we did. All in all a lovely stay. The rest of Helsinki is reachable o the tram system which is reasonable & regular.

Staff very friendly. Food offer excellent. Breakfast and dinner included, which is big plus. Only negative comment is that if you want an hour late check, they will charge you €20 an hour, thats the only downside for my stay. As all hotels i have been to, they will give you free an hour - 2 hours free late check out if room is not required.
