The actual hotel is pretty average overall. The free breakfast is better than I expected but the hotel has no other amenities. No pool, restaurant only serves breakfast, not even a vending machine on the floor I was on (main floor has one but even then it's cash only). The room was nice enough and it was clean as long as you don't look higher than eye level. Up near the ceiling there were a few spider webs. Service was exceptional right from calling to book. I was originally going to stay at a nearby chain hotel which is a little nicer, but when I called to ask if they could accommodate a late checkout I found out I'd been connected to a call center for the chain and the person I was speaking to had no ability or interest in helping me with my late checkout request, they only talked about the price and repeatedly tried to get me to pay for my stay without providing an answer. When I called Hinton Lodge I got the actual hotel and they were able to accommodate my request immediately and booked me in without payment over the phone, and then at the end of the stay waived the extra charge for the late checkout anyway (which was an extremely reasonable charge that I had no problem paying). Also, the location is perfect - you're 5 minutes down the highway from Jasper national park with a ton of restaurants in walking distance and some real nice scenery at a very reasonable price. If you're looking for a nice low budget option you've found it.

Rude maintenance guy - he came at midnight 12:30 am as shower nob is not working teaching us why to bath towel is on floor. He have no sense about time everyone sleeping, we F*** not paying for leaking not working shower at midnight were we staying there literally to take a nap. Rest all staff were freindly.

Room is clean and spacious. Room rate is reasonable. Free breakfast is good, though the dining area is a bit small. Location is good, few minutes driving distance to the mall which includes Walmart, Safeway and Dollarama. Fast food shops like McDonald, Papa John’s, DQ, Thai Express, etc. are there too. It’s a good stop before heading to Jasper.
I cannot find any water (for drinking) though.

This property seemed expensive based on other properties we booked on our trip but a lot of properties are expensive in the summer, so maybe that just comes with the territory. We read reviews that said the breakfast was terrific but this was not our experience. The breakfast was sufficient but it was incredibly crowded. They were limited hot options. The first room we were given had the strong smell of smoke in it. However, the front desk quickly resolved this issue by giving us another room. I don't know what happened to the first room but I think they said it was going to be cleaned again. This beats the ridiculous summertime prices for hotels in Jasper, but I don't think this hotel deserves the 9.2 rating that we saw when we booked it. It is safe and it is close to gas stations and some restaurants and a grocery store so that's all very good.
