Overall happy with the stay but not perfect! The young lady at reception and the Englishman doorman was a delight. We booked the large room and it certainly was that. Very large bedroom and an extra sitting room. The beds and pillows are above average. The whole hotel, room and bathroom was kept extremely clean. The flavours from the food from the restaurant in house was amazing. The fish and chips, dumplings and French toast was outstanding. The location of the hotel is superb facing the main square and walking distance to everything else. We stayed there for 5 nights. The disappointing aspect was the breakfast. On the first morning we received a buffet of cold meats and croissants, fruit, cereal and yoghurt and an opportunity to order off the menu for a hot meal. Unfortunately for the following 3 breakfasts the buffet option was removed even though the breakfast cost was the same (apparently there wasn’t enough rooms booked). The coffee we ordered each morning came to us barely warm even when ordering it extra hot. The waitress staff are not very attentive even when only two couple eating at a time. The other issue is that when you book through hotels.com it shows that you receive a bottle of spirits as a gold member. We enquired about our free bottle and was told they would need to speak to the manager but didn’t hear back from them. We had three bookings in total. So overall I would say above average but not excellent.
