If you are going to Mackinaw City, you really should stay on the beach. The Hamilton Inn was affordable, clean and best of all, right on the beach. There was also an indoor pool in case of bad weather, but we did not use it. Breakfast of scrambled eggs and waffles was available. It was hot and delicious. I did wish there were amenities like a lounge or restaurant, but there were lounges within a 3 block radius that were walkable, even for us senior citizens.

It looked run down. The staff were friendly and fast. I didn't like that you cant bring your breakfast to your room. My son struggles with too much noises and couldn't eat there.

The room was dirty. The tub was dirty. The jetted tub was lined with sand after draining it. We were not on the beach. This came from the jets themselves. Upon a closer look they were dirty. When we mentioned it to the front desk they claimed "the lines are flushed and that is the result". That did not remove any concerns. The bathroom sink didn't drain properly. The screen on the sliding door was taped at the top and the tape was hanging half off. The pool was dirty and the hot tub was filthy. You could not even see the bottom. There was peeling stripping all around the top of the hot tub. It looked too disgusting to enter. The room came with free waterpark passes at a local hotel. It has a couple of waterside and a lazy river. Both slides were closed and boarded up and the plunge pool empty. The lazy river barely moved. We stayed less than 10 minutes. For the price we paid I expected better. I would NOT recommend this hotel.

the night before i stayed at an expedia super 8 hotel, which was a disgusting hole. the hamilton was a breath of fresh air. walking in the front door was a welcoming staff, it backed up on the same shore, the building is a little dated, but, very well maintained. the room was clean, neat, comfortable. I don't travel much, I understand most are franchises, I'll never look at another Super 8 again. Mackinac City, was a very nice experience,,,, thank you Hamilton

The hotel room itself smelled like moldy-mildew and the carpet was old and sticky. The pool and hot tub could be much cleaner. The gym is basically non existent, very limited machines and the bowflex was broken. The booking notes that the rooms are sound proof and that is very much untrue. I’d be less upset about it if they didn’t go out of the way to lie about it as a perk.

I really liked the view, the fact that the hotel was on the lake made viewing the Saturday night fireworks wonderful! There was an issue with the bathroom when we arrived because it had been clogged however when brought to the attention of the staff they took quick action to make it right.

At checkin we were told we were upgraded but the room was definitely a downgrade. The room was next to a stairwell and an entrance so noisy all night long. There was a soap bar in the shower from previous people. There wasnt any new bars of soap for us to use. The room made me feel dirty and was happy when we left.

Our room was damp. Carpet damp, bedding damp. The smell was terrible and gave me a headache and had a hard time breathing. The smell of mold and musty. I was very thankful we only booked there for one night. We couldn’t leave fast enough. When we asked for a dehumidifier they sent a maintenance man with what appeared to be a bottle of windex but he claimed it was air freshener. No help at all! We also had black mold growing on the wall.This property needs major restoration done. I would not recommend this property to anyone. The staff check in woman were very rude and made us feel like a burden.

Every thing was great at the hotel. The only recommendation I would have is that they need to leave the coffee machine on downstairs available, 24/7... So if anybody feels like a coffee or a tea, they don't have to only have it whenever the breakfast hour from 7 to 9 a m

Disappointing Stay – Needs Serious Improvement. My recent stay at this hotel was far from satisfactory. The carpet in the room had a strong, unpleasant odor, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel felt outdated and dull. The curtains had visible mold, and the showerhead knobs were both loose and rusted, making it difficult to use. Additionally, the swimming pool had a strange smell that definitely wasn’t chlorine, raising concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this hotel.
