The room was very roomy and extra comfortable. The bedding was very clean and the HVAC easily maintained correct temperatures. The interior lobby is beautiful and well appointed with interesting historical data. The pool area is very nice but we were there during weather too cool to use. The problem here is the street noises of traffic and one night people partying loudly on the opposite corner for over an hour til 2:30 am. The restaurant was good at breakfast and hotel staff were excellent. The downside was the holiday dinner buffet was less than desirable. The meat was good but all sides were not warm, some too mushy and both desserts rather bland. Our reservation began at their last hour for service and the staff were breaking down tables and chairs next to us in the middle of our meal; 20-30 minutes before end of service which greatly distracted from the intended atmosphere. The area around the hotel was not as meticulously maintained nor attractive. Settles is like a diamond in the rough--not much around except rundown shops and parking lots. The areas around I-20 appeared to be more active and inviting.
