The Black Bear Lodge is a luxurious lodge nestled in the woods of Hocking Hills on 10 acres of private acreage while still remaining close to nearby restaurants, shops, and local attractions. The lodge boasts 4 comfortable bedrooms, large living spaces, and a magnificent kitchen and dining area. The outdoor pool is one of the best features during the summer months. Traveling is a breeze when you stay with us as the lodge is fully equipped with great amenities. Property offers game room, outdoor hot tub, fire pit, and hiking trails. State Parks, lakes, canoe & kayaking, ziplining and so much more all located within a short distance from the property.

Guests will enter an inviting space that makes you feel like you are home away from home. The knotty pine walls, hardwood flooring, and wooden accents make you feel warm and comfortable. The open-concept layout makes it easy to entertain guests. The lodge comes with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room. There are 4 bedrooms for guests to rest for a day of fun.

Beyond the property, the lodge is centrally located, allowing you to easily access the best attractions in Southeast Ohio. Cabin getaway

It was amazing we all had a great time the hot tub was too hot but that was the only issue really besides it’s a spa bed one and it is kinda hard to get in and out of but other then that we had an amazing time and they offered us one more nite for really good deals price and I had to take it and that was so much fun we had a fire every nite and it was good family bonding time thank you for our stay and look forward to staying with u all again in the near future thank you and god bless u all.

Great price, nice location

I was not a fan of the check in process, would have preferred to simply go directly to the property instead of 15 minutes away to check in and out. The hot tub wasn’t the cleanest and the stove was iffy. But overall I would stay again due to price and location.

We had the opportunity to spend a couple of days with our grandchildren and we chose black bear lodge in Nelsonville. The place was everything and more that was listed on VRBO.Everything was spotless, plenty of towels for everyone, the bedrooms were spacious and everyone had their own room. Family of 6 would definitely rent this property again. Thank you, the Carbone family!!

Lots of room, nice area

We stayed for two nights in February at this location. The bedrooms were decent size.The master bathroom is awesome with that huge tub. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans , however there is no Keurig here which we found odd. The wooden tables are amazing and we actually utilized the fireplace, which they provided the wood for and came in handy. Didn’t notice it the first night because we were baking but definitely noticed it the second night but there was no heat in the home and it was super chilly the morning we left. The temp controller would not make it kick on. We let rental company know when we returned the keys. Overall, Minus it being chilly in the home, it was a great family get away.

Loved the cleanliness of this property and the location. Will definitely go back to this property again. It was quiet and away from everything, but close enough to Nelsonville to run into town if needed. We recommend this if you just want some quiet time away or it would be great for a large group since there is plenty of space.

This property exceeded expectations! Huge and spacious, very clean, and all the supplies/amenities you'll need for a comfortable stay. Very quiet and secluded. My friends and I loved to stare up at the stars in the hot tub after our long days of hiking in Hocking Hills.

Beautiful cabin but needs a little extra effort

Good place but no little extras for the price. Small issues needed fixed for the amount paid: cabin at 78 degrees at height of the hot and humid summer and my asthmatic husband wheezing for 12 hours until it finally cooled down and needing fans at full blast to make it bearable; shower in main suite didn’t drain well; tub in main suite didn’t stay stoppered; right, front stove burner didn’t work. Beautiful property and cabin but for the price, they need to maintain the small things better. I have stayed at higher priced places previously and it is the small, extra things that make the stay special and worth it. They need to put the extra effort to make it worth it.

Family trip to Hocking Hills

We enjoyed our stay at black bear lodge. The cabin was very secluded and quiet. We enjoyed using the hot tub in the evening after a long hike. The cabin was very spacious and clean. We would stay here again!

More than I expected

Everything from location, the fact that we were 20 mins or less to stores (Antique Mall), the hot tub, and being able to sit with family and cook for family was even better. We needed to bring nothing but food.

Really nice stay

This home is very nice and had everything needed to make our stay enjoyable, comfortable and convenient. We had a small family gathering for the holidays and enjoyed family meals, visiting and card playing each evening. We had our two dogs with us and there was plenty of yard space for them to explore. The location is great, very peaceful and quiet but close enough to both Nelsonville and Athens. The check in was fast and easy, but you have to stop in their local store/office to get checked in prior to going to the home and again to drop off the home key after your stay, a minor inconvenience. The home was very clean inside throughout and had all the needed amenities. The interior is well updated and all the wood work gives it a rustic cabin feel and it’s well furnished. It was decorated for Christmas time. The hot tub was functional but has wear and tear, we didn’t use it because it didn’t appear recently well cleaned. Not a big disappointment because we weren’t counting on using it. There were some dog piles between the pool and hot tub that had been missed or ignored by previous visitors. Overall we enjoyed our time at the home and would recommend it for a stay in the area, we would stay here again. Thank you First Choice

Property as described, some minor issues, but overall it was a great stay. House is very spacious, even closets are very large. Plenty of room for everyone. Hot tub was nice. Would come again. 25 min ride to Hocking Hills State Park.

Beautiful house and property. Little disappointed the fireplace wasn’t operational but no big deal. One bench in dining room was broke when we arrived but I notified the host and received a quick response. Our family had a fabulous time! Would highly recommend.

Beautiful cabin, very private

This cabin is gorgeous and extremely spacious! And SO CLEAN!! It's exactly as listed...the hot tub worked great, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare all our meals. We really enjoyed the fireplace and they will deliver firewood so it is waiting for you upon arrival which was very convenient. Gorgeous master bath. Really big yard, nice patio area. We really enjoyed our stay. If I had to nitpick about anything it would be that I wished it was self check in with a lock box for convenience....with the days shorter and check in after 4 by the time we went to the place to pick up our key it was dark and finding the cabin wasn't easy. As a matter of fact we accidentally pulled into the driveway of a nearby property and an older woman came out with her arms crossed so i rolled the window down and said "I'm sorry, I think we're a little lost" to which she loudly replied "I don't give a s___ get the f___ off my land!" So that was pleasant....just don't make that mistake and you'll be fine lol

Good time

Property shows better in person. Only issue hot tub could be be cleaner. Ceptic tank smelled. 3rd bedroom ceiling fan needs balancing. Turned in issues to managemenet. Would rent again. Totallly enjoyed our stay.

Black bear lodge ups and downs

This was a nice house for our children and grandchildren. But the beds were not very comfortable for adults. This house was not very accomadating for my wife and I because we use walker's and the steps and bathrooms and doors were too narrow. We have found most all VRBO houses are not handicap friendly. Thanks Fred and Pat Surface
