Tried to check in at 4pm and clerk said "Your room isn't ready." I asked to register, get keys, and leave bags in their luggage room b/c I had important events to get to. "Not until your room is ready," I was told. "You can sit in the lobby or come back later." I was taken aback by the rudeness. Not a single word of apology. "You're done, sir," she snapped. It was my daughter's wedding day, and I didn't have time to rearrange my life around this incompetent hotel's needs. Returned at 11pm and was given a room on the 2nd floor, significantly noisier (because of the street noise) than I could have received 7 hours earlier. In the room, I wanted info on ice machine locations. Pressed "Reception" button and got a rapid busy signal as if the phone wasn't working. Pressed the "Coincierge" button which was IMMEDIATELY answered by NYPD 911. ??? Yep! Then I had to apologize and explain twice that the call was an error; there was no emergency. Of course, they wanted to make sure someone wasn't in danger. Moments later, the hotel called the room about our 911 emergency. If the phone system worked in this dump, these things would not happen. They won't happen to me again, as there are plenty of other $300+ hotels in the Greatest City in the World, New York City. Note to Doubletree/Hilton: it's called "The Hospiality Industry," not the "Client Abuse Project".

The hotel is conveniently close to Times Square, but unfortunately, it’s located on a street that felt very unsafe, especially at night. We didn’t feel comfortable walking in the area after dark. On our first day, our room was not cleaned. When we brought this up to the front desk, we were told housekeeping had already left for the day. After following up multiple times, they claimed it’s a “New York City policy” to only clean rooms every other day unless guests specifically request daily service. That’s simply not true and felt like an excuse. I suggested that this policy—if real—should be mentioned at check-in, and one of the front desk staff dismissively replied, “OK, is that it? Next!” This is not a budget hotel, and for the price, the service and experience were very disappointing. There are plenty of other hotels in the city.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I checked in on Sunday May 25 till Wednesday May 28th. This was possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was tiny. The bathroom was dirty specifically the shower. I will include pics. The toilet handle. Broken. The sink. Broken. I called front desk an hour after checking in and they told me they will send an engineer and that never happened. I called again and they didn’t have a solution. Oh and btw the ice machine Broken! Had to get ice from the front desk and it arrived have melted. Oh and none of the employees want to be here or help you at all. When you ask a question they look at you like you just asked for the world. All I wanted was towels. My god. If you don’t like your job quit! So again. Don’t waste your money. Pay that extra $100 -$200 and actually enjoy your stay. Hope this helps and I hope management sees this and actually does something.

We booked double tree by Hilton considering it is going to be very good hotel, but we feel we could had selected other lower brand hotel and they may had been better. or may be there is another double tree just few blocks away at 525 8th Avenue and that would have been better. our AC was not working and it got fixed but we felt again that AC not working but we were so tired we do not wanted to call anyone to come and fix. shower door was not properly closing and that made the bathroom messy and we have to keep towel on the floor + wipe out the floor for the next person to take shower. it was horrible actually.

Overall, the property was good. The location was perfect for a weekend of Broadway shows. The check in process for my party was great!! Unfortunately I’m not able to remember the employee’s name, but he was very friendly and demonstrated patience and professionalism beyond our expectations. Our room had a couple of issues. The shower curtain did not go all the way to the floor so water was all over the bathroom floor and into the room’s entryway. The toilet paper holder was barely hanging on the wall when we arrived and the last night it finally fell off the wall. Last issue we had was our room did not get housekeeping service the next to last day of our stay. We called to request service and was told there may not be anyone left from housekeeping (it was almost 6:00pm) to provide full service but we were told fresh towels would be brought up. Had to end up calling two more times before finally getting clean towels. Checkout process was easy and staff was very friendly.

This was our second time staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton, and we’ve always loved the location — it’s truly spectacular. Unfortunately, this visit was far from pleasant. Our first night was terrible. The room had no air conditioning, and despite our complaints, we were not moved to another room. Instead, we were given a standing fan — which was definitely not enough, especially with four people in the room. It was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing. The next day, we were finally moved to a different room, but the only compensation we received was a $100 discount. Given the inconvenience and how badly the first night went, it really didn’t feel like enough. We love staying at this hotel, and that’s what made this experience even more disappointing. We hope this was just an isolated issue, but it definitely impacted our stay.
