The room was actually quite nice for the price and overall situation. Comfortable bed, good shower, towels that didn't suck. Only issue is that the elevator (I believe) makes this horrible noise every time it's used, and it's basically impossible not to hear in your room. It's a self inflicted wound that the hotel could solve, vs the outside street noise. Bring ear plugs.

Cold, drab gray room like a prison cell. not like it's photos. drapes have been removed. not a single bit of aesthetic. a single stripe of a different color paint across one wall would have made a bit of difference. but it was clean and beds were okay. had to beg for blankets though. also TV didn't work.

The hotel does what it needs to do, we got it whole on a pinch so it worked just fine. Location is INCREDIBLE! Would literally stay here again just because of that. The room felt a little run down, definitely not as nice as it looks on the website photos. The bed was ok, we found some ash? under our pillows, or maybe just dust. The bathroom did not feel as clean but what hotel feels clean regarding a bathroom thousands of people use lol The staff was fantastic, everyone was suuuuper nice and accommodating. I didn’t catch her name (shame on me) but the skinny girl at the front desk with the thick black framed glasses was sooooo nice! I would stay here again just because of her and the location. Thank you for making our stay easy and comfortable, definitely made us feel better about our choice since the facilities kinda let us down. This girl deserves a raise!!!! ***If it helps, she checked us in on Monday October 20 at around 1pm. Again thank you, you were great!!!

This property is not as advertised and I escalated that through Expedia. This hotel has NO HOT WATER, no in room safe, mattress is on the basement floor, and gives rooms in the basement (!!!!) to people who book through Expedia. I took my daughter to NYC for the first time and wanted her to experience an authentic experience. This room cost so much money but I still checked out a day early BY 11 am and happily paid to stay somewhere else. I let them know I was leaving so they could rent it again, and they STILL denied my refund. This was an unsafe space that falsely advertises on Expedia and takes advantage of Expedia being unable to refund the cost of these awful rooms rented through them. Life is hard and these people are taking advantage of us as we have become accostoumed to everyone having their hands in our pockets. They are terrible people with terrible managment in a terrible property. Expedia DID make me whole on account of who they are. They are a wonderful corporation but The Gatsby Hotel is also taking advantage of them along with the consumer.
Mattress on the floor. Subfloor "windows" for optimal privacy for my minor daughter.
The is the "hallway" to the room. Walking through a darkened stairwell with a minor. And bags. Arms full. Defenseless.
Basement room, no hot water, which means no one else has hot water either.

I want to like this hotel very much. It is in a convenient place; the staff is very friendly; the room seemed clean to me. But they charge a resort fee on arrival. Yes it is advertised in the listing. But their website says it is for business center access, concierge service, housekeeping(?!), In room water, in room coffee, in room safe, and phone calls. There was no safe; there was no in-room coffee; if I make a phone call charge me! If I want to use the business center to print or use the internet then charge me! Don't charge me a flat fee in advance. Also the sink barely worked; the toilet barely worked. And I was given a room in the basement with a tiny porthole window and I don't think it was made clear that that was going to be the same price as any other room. If you tell me in advance I will get a discount for a basement room then I might take it, but don't surprise me with it.

Room was clean. Small and quaint but worked for my family as we were out exploring the city most of our trip. Only downside about the hotel is the paper thin walls. Staying right next to us was a family with a baby who loved to scream and wail. And we could hear everything.
