Night stay in Portland

Staying at this La Quinta I don’t know what I expected. I definitely didn’t expect how dirty it was, from the elevator to the TV stand in the room. On the surface it seems clean at first, but you can see on the side of the microwave that it hasn’t been dusted at minimum a month and the recliner in the room seemed beat up with pen marks, and did not look wiped down. I will say the bed was very, very comfortable and the sheets were clean. I read other reviews that the bathroom felt slimy and unclean, but that was not my experience. The best part of the stay is that it was conveniently very close to downtown Portland and the Uber was only eight dollars back-and-forth. If you don’t care about cleanliness and are staying for a short time to visit Portland, I would recommend. I, on the other hand, will be paying a little more and staying at a nicer hotel in town next time.

When we arrived to our room, we noticed the toilet kept running and immediately notified the front desk. They informed us the maintenance person wasn’t available until the next day and the hotel was full. We attempted to use the bathroom at 4am and water had overflowed onto the ground. We had to troubleshoot the toilet and clean the floor ourselves, and received no assistance. They finally changed our room in the morning after multiple visits to the front desk. Every time we asked for escalation, the response was always “I’ll call my manager” but we never heard back from said manager.

Positives: location to downtown and the airport is convenient, easy check in, clean rooms, quiet. Drawbacks: extremely small pillows, and they make you pay $10 for parking when the hotel had a whole parking lots. I could see if it was a parking garbage or street parking, but its just a regular parking lot you have to pay to park. Makes no sense.

This was a good value; much less expensive than staying at Old Port yet an easy drive there. The room was comfortable and clean; nice breakfast with several choices (but the same every day.) The add-on parking fee is annoying. It should just be included in the room rate. But that did not negate the overall value.

I am a Flight Attendant and have stayed in many hotels. This property was not only right next to a railroad track that was constantly busy all through the night, but the room itself was very dirty. I had to take my disinfectant wipes to all the touch points in the room. It was very apparent that they had a water leak in our bathroom at some point because the door was very waterlogged and splitting all over the floor. The sheets had balls on them like they were very old and possibly not even changed. Very disappointed and will never go back!
