The dining room staff and grounds men are great. Front desk staff need a lot of lessons in customer service satisfaction. Had a missed flight, after booking and confirming room a month ahead. After arrival at 0830 the following day I was informed that my room was no longer available and it was given to someone else and that the hotel is sold out. I need to wait until people are checked out to get a room. I had to find the Assistant Property manager, because the front desk manager was clearly not helpful either. After escalation to the Assistant Manager, I was told that the room would be ready in 15 minutes. The property is good, food is ok. I

This resort is in a gated area with 3 other Riu hotels. The beach is beautiful and very busy. connectivity of the properties and ability to go around is nice. If you are a Riu Palace guest, you can eat and drink any where but if you are a Riu Bamboo guest, you can only eat and drink at Bamboo but can enjoy the properties around. Riu Bamboo is quite fun specially for 18 . Many pool parties and great entertainment program throughout the day. Lots of families with children as well as grandparents and singles and couples. The biggest issue for me was salty food although there are many food options. Restaurants were nice change. Really enjoyed the food at the Mexican and steak house. There are minimal non dominican alcohol. But good quality. The rooms were outdated. The towels are brown with bleach patches every where. There is only one bottle of soap for hand, body and hair. No other products available. There is hair dryer and iron in the rooms. Staff were amazing. Overall great place if beach, fun and entertainment is your top priority.
