Excellence El carmen is a wonderful all inclusive resort. You will lack nothing. Staff go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Dominican people truly are some of the most friendly people. Resort offers many activities day and night. There is always something fun to do. We are already planning our next trip!

Security risk! Single women BEWARE!!! I was a victim of non-consensual voyeurism, trespassing and invasion of privacy! A male hotel worker used his key to open and enter my hotel room while the do not disturb sign was on, and I was completely naked! He stared at me from head to toe and only left when I screamed! I do not know if his intention was to harm me! Other staff nearby said they did not know the man and did not see anything. Manager Franciely tracked found the minibar attendant opened my door unauthorized! I felt and still feel completely VIOLATED! I made a written report. Franciely and manager Antonio Diaz apologized and said this security risk is unacceptable.They agreed to a full refund of my five nights stay. However, now that I have returned back to the US, I am unable to get a refund as promised, Expedia is not helpful and I can’t get a real person on the phone. Expedia has denied refund twice, and I am not receiving any response by email from Antonio or Customer Service. I will update if they resolve this situation. They did not even offer to compensate me with a free trip due to their major failure. DO NOT STAY HERE and DO NOT BUY THROUGH EXPEDIA!

The facility is obviously older. There were odd smells in some of the building and musky smell in the room. Then when we would turn on the shower the bathroom sink would gurgle and it would smell like sulfur. The shower would leak where the glass is up against the wall and we had to put a towel on the ground. Service was hit or miss. One night we ordered room service and it never showed up. We called to check on it and were told they would be right down. Never showed up. There was one server working the entire beach area. So food and drinks took an hour. We wouldn’t go back To this resort probably. We did like that it was quieter of a location.

We enjoyed our stay overall and found the hotel comfortable and well located. The staff was friendly and attentive. However, the food did not quite meet our expectations in terms of taste and variety. With some improvement in this area, the experience could be even better.

The resort is beautiful. The rooms are maintained well and the layouts are great. I enjoyed the rooftop pool. The service on the beach is fast and excellent. My issue is with the food. Lobster house, I had the tails, season well but over cooked. The Shark food truck, Oregeno and Grill was mid. None of their dishes had any flavor. The sports bar food was the best I had on the resort. The breakfast buffet was good.

I booked this place couple of days before new years (Risked) but it had 9.2 stars. It was my first time going to Punta Cana and I wanted it to be special for new years AND I paid extra for Ocean View room. I was excited and sent a message to property to ask them about booking dinner and everything else that is needed for my special new year. This is what I encountered: 1) I barely understood at the reception the girl that checked us in and she said I can't book any fine dinning dinner because everything is booked! I showed her my message upon booking and all she said well Im sorry. 2) Then we were taken to the room which my booking clearly shows is Ocean View Suite just so I learn that my room is looking into the garden and neighboors pool!!!At this point I called front desk and the lady was yelling at me saying that I got what I paid for, and that they have categories of Ocean view LOL excuse me!!?How would I know that if Im paying for Ocean view?? Several minutes later she called and apologized for her tone. She said she can try to give me an upgrade after new years and into next day but I still didn't see the value only annoyance with packing and unpacking for couple of days. At this point I said I want refund for each night I paid extra and I'll duke it out in the room I unpacked. I overpaid everything at this resort, later I'll learn that food is total crap that added to my experience. Entering into 2026 turned out exhausting experience at El Carmen.
