Staff rude and unhelpful. Food is average at best, drinks are bad and we found dirty underpants in our room from the previous guests accompanied by cockroaches. We stayed in a $1000 / night 2 story villa.

Giving a 2/5 for only one reason. Everything was great except for the fact that they seem to not monitor who they allow onto the beach to sell goods to resort residents. Me and wife were on our honeymoon and basically got robbed twice. The first guy cme up with an iguana and asked us to hold it took a picture and then demanded 5000RD. The next guy came on our last day and after convincing us that the price would only be $36 usd he charged me $64 and ran off. Both were with the same company sporting yellow polos and blue under shirts. Your guests are here to relax in a beautiful setting, not be constantly heckled for money and potentially robbed by workers taking advantage of a language barrier. This is absolutely unacceptable. This completely ruined our trip knowing that i had tipped well all over the resort only to he robbed, the hotel should be ashamed.

My wife and I had a very relaxing 7 days at Excellence El Carmen. We’re very easy to please. So we have no complaints whatsoever. The food was the best we’ve ever had at an all-inclusive, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The buildings are starting to show their age a bit, but that’s to be expected from any resort of this age. Everything was super clean though, and the grounds were beautifully landscaped and well kept. We would highly recommend Excellence El Carmen, and look forward to going there again someday.

The report was amazing - quiet and not crowded at all. There were a few bumps in the road but nothing major. One of the room pillows had mold on it and there were some inconsistencies with the wait staff on what was available versus what was not but OVERALL, an amazing place with amazing people!

I had stayed at this property 5 years ago, enjoyed it again! There were a few elements that had changed such as in room thermostats that wouldn’t let you go below 68 and noticed a few items needing repair but overall still great, quiet and beautiful landscape.

We love the resort and all the service people. The noise gets a bit much around the pool at noon when the water exercises start, but that's when we leave for lunch. The variety of restaurants and food quality is excellent. The service people are exceptionally friendly. We have been to el Carmen 5 times and plan to return. The concierge arranged the renting of a golf cart for my wife who found it taxing to walk around the resort this time. We are in our eighties. The only difficult times we had were at the airport. However, the porters at the Punta Cana airport are very helpful. Getting off the plane and packed into a bus is a bit daunting, and so is getting on the plane. Punta Cana dose not have convenient walkable ramps from the gates to the plane. R. Paluch

Our stay at Excellence El Carmen in the Dominican Republic was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The resort’s property is beautifully maintained, with lush gardens and pristine pools creating a stunning tropical paradise. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our experience was perfect. Juana especially treated us like royalty!! Everyone we encountered was genuinely friendly, attentive, and eager to make our stay unforgettable. Their hospitality truly set this resort apart. The food was delicious! The drinks were top-notch as well, with premium liquors and were never watered down. If you’re looking for a luxurious, all-inclusive getaway with world-class service, incredible food and drinks, and breathtaking surroundings, Excellence El Carmen is the perfect choice. I highly recommend this resort and can’t wait to return!

This property was extremely beautiful. It had everything it mentioned on the website easily accessible to everyone. I would give this four stars however as an all adult inclusive property shutting down at 11 PM was unacceptable. Almost every restaurant had a dress code and that was a little ridiculous. The food was subpar at best with the best food coming from the Indian restaurant and the Japanese hibachi grill. The staff was beyond awesome. Richie specifically went above and beyond every day to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. The fact that he remembered our names and spoke to us every single time he saw us made us feel Appreciated. The one club that is on the premises close at 3 o’clock in the morning. I have been to previous all inclusive resorts before even the ones that allow children did not shut down at 11 PM and 3 AM. They stayed open pretty much the entire time. I don’t understand why something this expensive would actually shut down in the middle of the night.
