In the meantime, you can immerse yourself in one of the nation’s few remaining authentic Italian-American settlements, known as "The Hill." The Hill is a long-established Italian-American neighborhood with family-owned delis, sandwich shops and bakeries on Marconi Avenue, and trattorias, pizzerias and upscale Italian eateries dotting the streets around Shaw and Wilson avenues. The “Italian Immigrants” statue stands outside St. Ambrose Catholic Church, and locals gather to play bocce at Milo’s Bocce Garden across the street and in neighborhood parks.

Enjoy the food, wine, dolci, bocce and charming atmosphere from the convenience of your sweet perch overlooking the neighborhood’s newest project, the Piazza Imo complete with fountain, benches and chess tables. Lime bikes and electric scooters can be found but walking is the preferred mode of transportation here where everything you could want is literally at your doorstep in this safe and friendly community.

This lovely new apartment in an historic building is located in the true heart of the Hill. The second floor entrance is accessed from an indoor staircase to the apartment on the right. A shared deck overlooks the neighborhood's new Piazza Imo, with a magnificent fountain, gardens and chess tables with sycamore trees. Enjoy morning coffee or a gelato downstairs at the Gelato di Riso (shortened winter hours in January and February) or have a beverage on your deck with a piazza view, reminiscent of an Italian square. At the foot of the stairs you will be a few steps away from our historic Italian Immigrant Statue, St. Ambrose Church, bocce garden and family friendly neighborhood pub, and pizzeria on our shared corner, and more within a few blocks. An easy walk in this safe neighborhood to countless Italian restaurants, deli's, bakeries and shops make it a place to relax and make memories. Wander a little farther as you will be only minutes away from Busch Stadium, the Arch, Union Station and Enterprise Center. Ten minutes to Powell Hall and The Fabulous Fox, Washington University, St. Louis University. The perfect apartment for parents' weekends, graduation and other events. Five minutes to the Missouri Botanical Garden and the famous and free St. Louis Zoo and Forest Park. Special events take place at all these locations and some happen right outside your door like the Italian Heritage Day Parade and Festa, Christmas on the Hill, La Festa, and The Giro della Montagna (3rd professional and amateur cycling race of the Gateway Cup) among others.
