Hotel, Staff and Location All Get an ‘A’.

We’re in town for one day and the Hyatt is perfect for our needs - newly decorated, convenient downtown location and garage has EV charging. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance.

Room service was lacking. The room was not automatically cleaned, and had to ask to get the room cleaned. One day the cleaning staff showed up at 9:00 am. The room did not have are to store valuable items.. for the price of the room I would have expected more.

I’ve stayed at other Hyatt Place hotels and overall they’re very consistent and well appointed. The State College location was very nice from the Penn State decor throughout the hotel to the accessibility to everything around town. The only improvement I would make is to upgrade the sofa bed mattresses. The one I used had multiple stains on it and the mattress was very thin and not very comfortable. In addition, the closet hinges were very noisy, i.e. creaky and crunchy. Maintenance needs to hit those hinges with WD-40 and tighten the hardware. Breakfast was delicious! Great hotel and I will book again.

The room was modern and a good size with comfortable beds, and ample drawer and closet space. Top floor view was great and the location is perfect for downtown State College. The breakfast, except for the tasteless powdered eggs, was good. Staff were friendly and the bar area nice for a late night final drink. Some amenities were deficient. The remote for the tv showed no guide for programs, the volume button malfunctioned often, and the screen had constant pop-ups that could not be stopped. The phone had no instructions for contacting the front desk (we couldn't, after trying multiple numbers, including 0). The shower would simply stop at times, before starting again. Wifi was sporadic, esp. at night. We found out only on the second day that maid service was only for the 3rd day of a stay (we were staying 2 nights). The parking card did not work when we went to exit the garage, and we had to go back to the hotel to get a new one. Individually, these issues would be minor, but the large number of them led to more irritation than we'd normally expect from a hotel stay.

It's a great place to stay when you want the convenience of being right downtown. I've stayed 4 times, and have had no complaints. It's also great that it's attached to Target for any convenience needs.

Clean and very convenient in terms of location for the annual art show. Although a pleasant stay, room prices were super high and parking fees doubled. I knew this up front, but I wasn’t expecting an extra $63 charge for using my Visa to pay for my stay.
