The Penn Stroud is a comfortable and great jumping off point for visiting the rest of the Poconos. The town very nice add for the trip.

For the price there is an expectation that the hotel will be comfortable and have some amenities. It was more like a motel. The room had a bed, desk and nothing else. BAthroom was adequate. But the smell in the hotel was overwhelming. It smelled like decay and an old building. It left us with an uncomfortable feeling. Wouldnt return.

The location, staff and appearance were great, but the noise level was terrible. We could hear the woman in the room next to us nearly word for word. The traffic from outside on the street corner was loud, but perhaps most annoying was that the TV from the other room next to us was on the same wall as our headboard and they watched TV until well after midnight. Barely got sleep. Lovely hotel and location but terrible if noises keep you up at night

Wonderful

The hotel is in such a great location and you cannot beat being able to park behind the hotel in the lot. We parked, went to our room, and then hit the downtown bars and restaurants! There are so many options to choose from within walking distance and if you wanted to go see a show at the Sherman Theater you can choose no better place to stay. The hotel has such a friendly and personable staff that it’s just a no brainer of a place to book! We will be back.

The property and staff were nice. The location seemed like a good idea - on the Main Street, great for walking after dinner. Unfortunately, the Main Street wasn’t very pleasant after dark. Just a few bars open, with drunken patrons hanging out on the sidewalk. Late into the night, locals revving their engines as they race up and down the main drag outside the hotel. That was a Wednesday night. Overall, the hotel was nice. Too bad about the location.

Very Nice Hotel

The hotel was awesome. In a good spot to walk to some awesome bars and cool little shops. The only complaint that I would have is the Continental breakfast was just not replenish to often. Also would like for an ice machine on each floor. But overall it was a great stay.

The Penn Stroud is a nicely appointed hotel. The beds are very comfortable. It is a downtown property with adequate parking. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping in walking distance.
