Don’t stay in the summer

This is a quaint little historical boarding house in DC. With that comes the creaky old-home issues which I accepted with the choice I made to stay. However, I was placed on the top floor in July and dealt with excessive heat in the room. Staff don’t work overnight, but each night coming back to my room after a full day of meetings and I hike up 4 floors was met with stagnant air in a too-warm room and no one to contact for help in addressing the lack of air. The overhead fan also didn’t work one of the nights and I had to ask a colleague to stay in their room with them.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at an unique hotel that offers a wonderfully guest-friendly environment, particularly when it comes to breakfast. The hotel’s vintage charm and rich history made for a truly memorable experience. What really stood out during my stay was the breakfast experience. The hotel encourages a sense of community among guests, we were invited to enjoy breakfast together in a cozy room. This arrangement made it easy to strike up conversations with fellow travelers, sharing stories and recommendations. The room and bathroom were really clean. The stairs are sloping because it's a really old building. The check-in process was confusing and the staff was surprised I was arriving the day I was. Fortunately there was another room ready and I was given the room without any delays.
