The lift was out of order. We wanted a lake view and to use the gardens, but there was scaffolding impeding our view and all laid across the gardens. If we knew about this, we would not have stayed at this property. We had no choice but to stay because we had nowhere else to go. We would like a refund for this terrible experience because it was not as described or advertised and we weren’t given an opportunity to change our minds.

The attention to detail was wonderful! The attitude of the staff was very commendable. The food was fantastic!
The only (slight) fly in the ointment, the lift was out of order.
We were given a tiny room which was inferior to the one we booked and listed as cheaper.
Alot of building work causing disruption.
On 2nd floor, lift out of order, 44 stairs to our floor.
Generally a let down.
Great location and view of Lake Windermere. Unfortunately when making the booking we were not made aware of the ongoing renovation at the hotel, therefore we ended up with a noisy bedroom, could not use the gym and the bathtub was blocked.
We did not have bath towels upon checking in, when I asked for hair conditioner, the front desk referred me to the Tesco down the road!
This is not a 4 star hotel, not the amenities not the service level.
The downstairs common areas are really lovely. The grounds, the lounges and the staff were great. The room on the other hand was very shabby. Room 83. The furniture was shabby, a previous leak had made the ceiling bulge. The crack and bulge has just been painted over. The bathroom was not clean and again, very shabby. This is such a shame as I had wanted to stay here for a while. There is no welcome literature or info in your room. The bedroom felt a bit baron, not the Laura Ashley vibe at all. The downstairs and upstairs do not match. The stairs and carpet are very worn and the carpet is filthy. The lift did not work and we checked in an hour late due to our room not being ready. I have to stay the staff did make up for this and offered as a complimentary drink when we couldn’t check in so complaints there. A hotel of two halves!

There was lots of building work going on, really noisy early morning.
Pillows like pancakes so take ur own.
The bathroom could have done with a grout clean it was really mouldy. Blinds were dirty.
Furniture very dated. The ceiling over bed was about to fall in.
The glass cabinet in the hall was displaying wedding table arrangements which was all full of dirty water. You would think that a display for advertising would be pristine.
I would give this a 3 star.
Gardens were beautiful until I walked down hill to find lots of empty bud bottles.
No hairdryers. £15 a night for parking a bit cheeky.

Close to everything, great customer service, fast check in, clean, comfortable, plenty of parking, good sized bed, wide selection for breakfast and a great roll top bath for relaxing in at the end of a long day!!
We had a lovely 2 night stay and would recommend.
The rooms were well presented, clean and tidy which was great. First floor room was cold though and heating didn’t come on.
Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice - really enjoyed that.
Check-in wasn’t great as rooms were an hour or so late in bring ready, but a drinks voucher was offered by means of an apology.
We’ll stay here again, and would recommend to others!
Staff were friendly and rooms were just what we needed, had a great stay. Would recommend!

Property is phenomenally beautiful , staff very good , the room was very comfortable and breakfast was good as well
TVs are not smart TVs however overall had a fantastic stay
We had a great 1 night stay at The Belsfield Hotel conveniently placed for a short stroll to the bars and restaurants
The room was lovely and clean, beds comfortable, with a great view over the lake . Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was a delight and to top it off the weather was great so we sat out in the gardens with a drink from the well stocked bar ,would definitely return
Stayed in a cosy garden room, bed was really comfortable however the bedding smelt musty. There was an air conditioning unit on the wall, but it didn’t work and when we contacted reception they said it had never worked, it hadn’t been connected to the mains. Room was quite warm but cooled a little in the evening as we had left the curtains closed to block the sun, but imagine in the height of summer it would be very uncomfortable. The doors in the room opened out on to a patio area, but the table and chairs were dirty with bird mess and fallen leaves from the trees. One of the bedside lamps kept flickering so had to turn it off. There were stains on the curtains. The tv was the size of a stamp. In the bathroom there was no soap to wash your hands with. The plug in the bath got stuck which meant the bath was filling up when trying to shower. Just overall the room was tired and in need of update.
The breakfast wasn’t the best either, hadn’t been replenished fully and food was cold.
On a positive note, the staff were lovely and service commendable. Location great too.
The hotel is currently undergoing a renovation, hopefully the rooms are considered within this!

Great location.
Check in was good, car parking explained to us. Disappointing that you have to pay extra to park at hotel.
Room was comfortable, breakfast was ok. Shown to a breakfast table with very dirty windows overlooking a building site. We weren’t informed that there was building renovations taking place. Staff all very friendly.
