This may be the worst hotel in America. Markets itself as a luxury resort, when in reality it’s a dilapidated shell of a historic property. Restaurants closed, pool and hot tub closed, filthy room, non functioning bathroom in room, apathetic staff. Stay away and go to one of the other wonderful hotels in the area. We left and went to the reluctant panther hotel. Massive upgrade. Stay away. This place is a cash grab scam. I wish I had the last 24 hours back. -50 out of 10 stars.

Was surprised at the dirty floors in common area and in my room one of the curtain sheers was ripped, other curtains were hanging off hokks, caulking at sink looked old, cracked, carpets in staircase dirty. The room was clean and lovely, but the temperature was so hot! We could not get it to get cooler. Fortunately, we were able to open a window which did minimal to cool the room even though it was 12 degrees outside! I mentioned this when we checked out and the front desk did remove the resort fee, which was very nice of them.

I really wanted to love the Equinox and it is charming. However many aspects were disappointing. Service atvthecrestaurants was impossibly slow. It took over an hour to get breakfast - and not because there was a line waiting. Coffee is promised from 7 am to noon in the lobby (there is no coffee in the room), but they were out by 9:30. Their virtual person who answers the phone promised a Keurig and frig in the room, but there was none. The fireplaces were not kept going (we were told to avoid making it smoky, but still disappointing on a cold winter night). Staff seemed nice, but overwhelmed. It was a fine trip, but not great for those reasons.

There was no heat in the room. We ran it on high all night and they gave us a space heater (shows they knew the heat was broken?) and the room never got above 62 degrees. No other rooms were available in all of Manchester so we had to go home early. The staff was apologetic but we were not the only room without heat (others at the front desk and at breakfast were trying to figure out what to do, too). We were told that it couldn’t be fixed during our stay. It’s a shame because the restaurant was good and the lobby was cozy, but this was clearly an ongoing issue with the heat that they did not fix
After a night with the heat cranked up to 80, it reached 62 degrees in the room.

Nicely decorated for Christmas. Helpful and attentive staff, Lack of heat in some of the public areas like near the library was an issue, but they tried by keeping the fireplace going. As a helpful hint- the fireplace area in the library was drafty and cold. You can go a long way toward fixing this by repairing or replacing that door that leads outside. There’s a 1 inch gap there. Also, while this is an issue, close those 2 inside doors. That works.

We feel that the resort fee to access the pool and hot tub as well as the other services covered are over priced. We stay at resorts and hotels all over the US and you are the ONlY place that charges for this.

Nice room, comfortable bed. This is an old grand hotel in tip top shape. We often stay in this type of hotel in NH and VT and found the Equinox to be the best maintained of them all. All the architectural class of its age in virtually new condition. Nice, reasonably priced onsite dining. We didn’t use the large indoor pool but it looked first class. Pleasant staff. We hope to return. Recommend “Ok for breakfast”, a 2nd floor breakfast & lunch restaurant downtown.
