Average stay - but a parking ticket problem!!

Location is ideal for Stansted. It’s directly under the flight path for planes landing & taking off so you’re a light sleeper, I would avoid. We were aware of this prior so had no surprises. Despite putting a ticket on the car provided by the hotel, we have ended up with a parking ticket!! So now we are contesting that. Seems like a problem that others have experienced also. The rooms were quite outdated and in need of an upgrade but this was potentially reflected in the price. The rooms weren’t very clean, floor dirty + bathroom. As we were only staying for a short time because of our flight, it didn’t bother us that much. Overall, it was an average stay but we wouldn’t stay again.

Very poor and unfriendly staff. Room was in horrible condition. No lights bulbs in the lights, shower door did not close, so water would get over the floor. Very dirty room. Outside from the room and staff the property is lovely. The one bright spot is the restaurant. Food was incredible and restaurant staff were fantastic!!!

Beautiful grounds

Lovely hotel with lovely reception staff. We only had a brief overnight stay and were very happy with it. Not so great was the noise from the kitchen generator. Not for anyone who doesn’t want to be on the flight path.

An excellent place to stay as it’s close enough to London and Cambridge by car. On site parking is a benefit. The only inconvenience is that it’s under the flight path for Stansted but the bedrooms are well insulated for sound and it’s not a disturbance unless one is enjoying the beautiful garden and water feature in the summer while dining al fresco! I would definitely stay here again and give it a clear 4 out of 5 ! The staff are professional and competent

Good hotel but rooms are dated

Hotel communal area was nice. Room was dated. Had to move the side tables to access plug sockets. Some plug sockets didn’t work. The kettle only turned on at a certain position. Staff were friendly in the restaurant. Good food. Good location to get to stansted however we didn’t get much sleep because of the planes taking off every few minutes.

Nice hotel, but under the flight path

The hotel is lovely. However, Hotels.com have it filtering under swimming pool, it has two ponds, no swimming, whcih was a great shame. It is also under the flight path to Stanstead so quite noisy with both flights and people vacating early to catch their flights. However, the room was comfortable but as I staid over the hottest days, a fan in the wardrobe that could be used would have been a real bonus. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent and I would recommend that.

Despite offering free parking and the receptionist assuring us that they had taken care of registering our car we still got a £100 parking fine. When attempting to call to understand how to appeal the listed phone number is never picked up

GHM stay.

Very nice room on ground floor. There is an outer door which does not reveal that rooms 7 and 8 are inside. The TV reception was very poor. Loved the shower. Very nice restaurant. Food needs improving given the price. Excellent grounds. All in all, apart from being under the Stansted flight path, very enjoyable stay. Will come again. One thing registering for free parking needs simplifying. Very confusing.

With the exception of expensive taxi/Uber to get to/from airport around the corner - the hotel is absolutely perfect. Staff also 10/10 and noise from aircraft taking off is not too bad.

Lovely surroundings and a great restaurant...however, I wouldn't stay here again. The blind didnt work in the bedroom, so the room was constantly glowing with headlights from the constant flow of traffic. Also we had a broken bed which slowly got worse as the night went on. As we had to leave 3am, wasn't worth asking to move. We were told to email our complaint, but never heard back.

Room was just as advertised and had everything we needed - except hair conditioner. Easy and helpful check-in staff. Clean. The collection of buildings were absolutely stunningly cute and well-maintained, especially for the age, and nice explorable grounds. Not much open in the area or walkable past evening time. Quick cab ride to Stanstead. Beds a bit on the short size, rooms could use fans in the summer. Opening the windows was an option but we were on the road side which was surprisingly noisy for most of the night, in addition to very loud planes overhead nearly every 5 minutes well past 11 pm. Nice place, but bring ear plugs or a white noise machine.

Beautiful grounds - lovely location for dinner or a cocktail. Hotel didn't have air conditioning and when we were there at the end of May it was warm! The room was quite stuffy and too hot to sleep.
