The management team doesn’t ever answer the phone. I was bitten by one of the house keepers dogs and my so called “Honeymoon Suite” was right next to this monstrosity. I kept my cool and my complaint was answered with the State Police knocking at my door stating that the manager wanted me to leave the property. It was a nightmare of an experience to say the least.

Rooms 21 & 22 had bed bugs. See attached photo-unable to attach... It was Memorial day weekend, so no rooms available and offered the second room -21 which was infested too. Only offered refund. We had to drive home which is 3+ hours away. We cannot believe the lack of concern for our granddaughter's bites. We've NEVER experienced this in our lives.

When I first entered my room I was hit by a wave of heat. I opened all the windows in an attempt to cool the room down. About that time I noticed that the thermostat was turned all the way up. Why? Who knows? The shower drips continuously and there is a rivulet of water that runs across the floor in the bathroom. I needed ice for my cooler but there was no functioning ice machine. This may have been a nice place at one time but it has been quite a while since then.

The room was big with a microwave, coffee pot and small refrigerator. The king size bed was very comfortable. I slept soundly. The room was spacious and very clean! The only thing is that the deadbolt did not work in room 34. The carpet going upstairs to our room needs to be replaced or just do a nice wood stairway.

Check in was easy, staff super nice and easy to contact by text. Bed was super comfy. Ice machine broke 1st day there, not a huge deal. Need more bathroom shelves and small brooms to sweep. Limited tv channels, but not there to watch tv anyway. Another rug would be nice, cold floors. Nice stay overall.

Disappointed Stay Despite Good Location

We recently stayed at the Elkhorn Lodge in Chama, New Mexico, and unfortunately had a less-than-pleasant experience. Upon check-in, we discovered there was no running water in our room. After notifying the front desk, they were able to fix it, but the toilet and tub were left full of sediment and debris. That night, we realized there was no television, even though a wall mount and coax cable were present. Tried to stream some movies but the connection was pretty bad. The heaters didn't work, and while I didn’t report it since it was late, it made for an uncomfortable night (I tried the heaters in the adjacent room thinking we could move but they also didn't work). One of the bathroom washcloths had dried blood on it, and we also ran out of toilet paper, which I retrieved from another open, vacant room. The small space heater our room was broken as well. On the positive side, the beds and pillows were comfortable, and the river access was nice. However, the property looked run-down, and the on-site café was closed due to a staffing issue. Compared to other nearby lodges, the Elkhorn clearly needs some basic upkeep and attention to cleanliness and maintenance. I hope the owners invest in improvements, as the location has real potential.
