Extremely disappointed with my room. It was in really poor condition. Broken pain in the window. Black mould around windows and curtains hanging off. Being an adult in a tiny single room I expected much better.
Stayed at Wildes Inns for a family wedding and have to say that, unfortunately, we would not return. The venue was beautiful for the wedding and everything was lovely but the room was very small and exceptionally hot meaning we barely slept.
We had also paid £50 extra to take our dog with us but she was in distress as it was far far too hot. We were two floors up with no lift available and the heat intensified as you went up the stairs. I appreciate air con may not be possible in an old building but maybe portable units should be in those rooms. Housekeeping did give us an extra fan but this wasn’t great. I couldn’t go for the included breakfast as we could not have left her to go for breakfast and just wanted to get out of the room as soon as possible as it was just breathless.
I have now on return had the £50 holding charge taken from my account that my card number was taken for on check-in that I was told was a hold for if we charged anything to our room, which we didn’t. (Taken, not showing as pending)
Such a shame as this really could have been a lovely stay but it was just really really spoiled by a number of things.
My biggest take away I can give to others is please do not book this hotel with pets in summer, the temperature these rooms reach is not suitable.
The staff were lovely, helpful, visible and polite. The food was great for the 50% off which it was that day. The restaurant, reception and room no complaints at all. The only thing I could say to improve would be the stairwell to the rooms wasn’t hoovered and didn’t look like it had been for a while. The carpet was also ripped in a couple of places.

Food was a totally poor experience
Was a birthday celebration with family
We ordered steak which was of very poor quality
We were asked how we would like our steak cooking
There was lots of confusion regarding which steak was for which diner on arrival at the table
One member of the group requested his steak to be blue which it clearly wasn’t on arrival
The waiter did return it to kitchen but were were then told there was no more steak available so he ordered ribs which again was of very poor quality and very small portion
It was a very poor service overall
When the young waiter bought the starters he couldn’t identify between prawns and calamari
Surely that is down to training
As if that wasn’t enough our daughter messaged us to ask if we were enjoying the meal
She stated that she has emailed , rung and paid £36 for a bottle of wine that she hoped would be presented with our meal as a surprise
This request was never carried out
We were not difficult customers we just wanted to enjoy the experience
Jake who I believe was one of the managers did understand and reassured us that our concerns would be followed up
He personally rang my daughter and apologised and refunded my daughter
He was most apologetic and dealt with the issues very professionally
Stayed for my daughter and son in laws wedding.
Beautiful place, excellent day.
My only complaint was that the bedrooms were unbelievably hot. Fans were provided but did nothing. It was so hot that hair and makeup were almost impossible and sleeping very difficult.
I think also it would be a great help if there was somewhere bigger for the bridal party to get ready as the rooms are so small.

Stayed one night.
Average room, stains on the couch
No air con and hairdryer provided.
Room location was facing a busy road.
Could not sleep because of traffic as can hear with the window being open due to the stuffiness!
It was just the heat wave made it uncomfortable tbh but did get a fan that worked a bit
Maybe get staff to open windows in rooms later in the day mine was 31c at 9:30 pm
Very modern and nice place to stay. Given wrong room initially but it was sorted out.
Staff weren't miserable but I wouldn't say they were happy either.
Would recommend it but with reservations. Price of drinks was extortionate!
In the room we stayed in the walk in shower dribbles water out onto the bathroom floor , which is unavoidable , there is no soap holder on the shower and the drenching shower head wastes water and energy.

Lot of noise from the wedding below. Room far too hot, someone in our party asked about it and was told it was set at that and couldn’t change. I took a cold shower before trying to sleep. Not the best overnighted I’ve ever had.
