Nice hostel with shared bathrooms. Quiet and well run. VERY difficult to find the parking behind the hostel. It is an almost hidden alley directly behind the building and the map provided left us driving in circles for a half an hour or more. Suggest label all alleys and roads on map so can make sense of it and emphasize that the alley is VERY hard to see.

Sure! Here’s a short review you can use: ⸻ My stay at Chicago Getaway Hostel was amazing! The rooms and bathrooms were super clean, which made the whole experience even better. The location is top tier, just steps away from the trains and bus stops, making it easy to get around the city. Plus, being surrounded by a college campus gave the area a fun, vibrant vibe. I’d definitely stay here again!

Staff, cleanliness, and location were great! My top bunk was pretty squeaky and not super comfortable, but the good cup of coffee in the morning with the traveler-vibe at breakfast was worth it.

The facility itself was clean and overall well-maintained, and my stay was generally okay. However, I would not stay in a hostel again due to a deeply uncomfortable and upsetting experience. Late one night, I was showering in the women’s bathroom and, upon stepping out of the shower cubicle, I was shocked to find a man inside the space. This was not a case of a trans guest using the facilities, which I would have understood — it was a man in the women’s bathroom, and the situation left me feeling exposed and vulnerable. When I reported the incident to the front desk, I felt dismissed and unfairly labeled as being judgmental or transphobic, which was not the case. My concern was about safety and the enforcement of gender-designated spaces, not anyone’s identity. This experience was traumatizing and has made me reluctant to stay in any hostel again. I hope the management takes guest safety and concerns more seriously in the future.
