Completely remodeled in 2018, this house carries the charm of its 100 year history, is equipped with most modern comforts and conveniences, and is ready to build family memories. The location couldn't be more perfect, or rare! This is THE closest house to the water as far as you can see North or South from the deck!

There are no scalding dunes to cross, or never ending stairs to climb, just amazing endless shoreline and panoramic views from almost every room! The Lake Michigan sunset doesn't get better or CLOSER than this! Enjoy expansive enclosed decks, great for children and well-behaved dogs. Brand new seawall (2021) encloses a private raised beach area just a few steps off of the lower deck.

Your nesting space has sleeping arrangements for 10 people. Accommodations include:
- Lower master bedroom with King size bed and en-suite bathroom with bathtub, shower and two sinks overlooking the Lake
- Upper bedroom with Full size bed and closet/dresser
- Lower bedroom with Queen bed and a twin bunk bed (child-safe with railings)
- Lower bedroom with two twin beds
- Lower sleeper sofa with 60-inch wide by 65-inch long mattress

Three full bathrooms:
- One in the master suite (tub)
- One other on the lower level (tub) + washer/dryer
- One on the upper level (shower)

The home has two living room areas, one upper and one lower:
The upper living area features access to the expansive deck off of the kitchen, TV, wet bar, gas fireplace, beautiful fully equipped kitchen, bedroom and full bathroom. The lower level features a living room with sleeper sofa, TV, access to enclosed deck, full bathroom, twin bedroom, bunk plus queen room and Master with adjoining full bathroom, both with amazing water views!

Your nest is also equipped with a vacuum, high chair, rocking chair, fireplace grate, folding table and chairs for 6, beach chairs, toys, beach towels, games, 2 outdoor picnic tables to accommodate 12 total, umbrellas, outdoor grill, and 8 Adirondack chairs. The upper level deck has dining tables and seating for 10.

Parking is located at street level with newly decked, enchanting wooded staircases and pathway to follow down to your nesting place at the waters edge! Start building your lake shore memories today, and come back to nest often!

family vacation

Our vacation included myself, my children, and my grandchildren. We loved spending time together and especially loved the easy access to the beautiful beach. The deck area was our favorite spot to watch the sunsets. The house fit our needs so we could spend our time together. The wifi had a weak signal, but otherwise, we were able to do everything on our wishlist.

Lovely Beachfront Getaway

Perfect getaway in celebration of my parent’s 50th anniversary. Lovely home with immediate beach access and a short drive to all of the sites of Douglas and Saugatuck. Clean, comfortable and spacious with numerous areas to lounge and relax, both indoors and out. Would definitely return!

Beautiful views of the lake, stunning sunsets

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home on the lake. The hosts were quick to answer a question we had about the property mid-stay. The master suite was especially lovely with a wonderful view of the lake. We spent every evening on the patio enjoying wonderful sunsets. My only caution would be to those who have mobility issues (either family members or pets) as there were a few steps to and from the property to the street. Overall, we had an absolutely lovely, peaceful stay here!

Great access to beach on Lake Michigan and close to Douglass and Saugatuck. House was very comfortable with beautiful views of the Lake. Conveniently furnished with lots of dishes, linens, nice TVs. We would definitely rent this location again!

Location is awesome. Really neat house right on the water. House is well stocked with all essentials to make it a great stay. Parking was a little awkward . You park on the street then climb down several flights of stairs and a wooden walkway thru woods to get to house.

Five star location

This property has a lot going for it. The location is excellent. Right on the beach and beautiful sunset views. The home was very clean. Great bathrooms. Plenty of towels and everyday items like soap, paper towel and toilet paper. Tons of kitchen ware but many items are very worn. Needs some weeding out. Two of the wooden and two of the Adirondack chairs are broken, understandable at the end of the season, but should be removed. Not sure how anyone has been able to get the main tv in the living room to work (and we had two generations give it a go). Would have been nice to watch something other than the lower level smart tvs. There are a number of stairs to the actual cottage. Just something to note if you have any accessibility issues. Our major concern was the lack of responsiveness from the host. We arrived Saturday. On Sunday, it was apparent that the dishwasher was broken. We contacted the host and checked things that could easily fix the issue. We informed him that none of his suggestions corrected the problem and never heard from him again. We removed dishes from the dishwasher and hand washed dishes for the length of our stay. Expected more from a premier host and property. He should have had someone come to check the issue at some point during the week. He did not. Nor did he offer an apology for the inconvenience. Would have made this a truly five star experience.

On the Beach

Very nice beach side home with plenty of windows and plenty of stairs.Very nice deck. Parking can be a challenge with many of the spaces along the street marked "reserved" by surrounding homes.

Parking was an issue. Neighbors were a bit touchy about parking. A bit warm in lower level. Otherwise weather was great. Overall great stay. There was a broken grey chair. Also upstairs shower had a crack on floor.

Family reunion-type getaway

Almost my whole family from across the country met at this home. First time we have been together since before covid. The house is fabulous! No main dining table - no problem! The large kitchen island was huge and had extra stools to seat everyone. plus the outside seating was plentiful. Plenty of towels and sheets... everything worked. Love the perfect few of lake michigan and the sunsets. The deck was by far a favorite! The only thing I would change is the arrangement of the furniture in the queen bedroom that has the bunk beds. we didn't use the bunk beds and maybe the beds are arranged to easily reach outlets. not sure. But, I feel like it could be arranged a bit better so as to access the queen bed on both sides. All in all a great home and we'd for sure stay there again. THANK YOU! EG COTTAGE!

Amazing waterfront retreat

Like many reviewers, the photos of the Lake don’t do this house justice. There are amazing views from the main living area (sitting room and kitchen) and primary bedroom. In addition, you are so close from some views that it feels like you’re hovering just above the water. If you want to be on the water, this is the place.

Never have lived so close to the Lake. Everyday was incredible, walks on the beach, hikes through the woods, great food from Farmhouse and the beauty of the waves. Perfect family getaway. The cottage was exactly the right size, spotless, well insulated with everything we needed.

Great winter getaway

We had a great winter trip with our adult kids. The location is perfect- fun to walk on the beach and see the weather ice volcanoes on the lake. The rooms other than the master are a bit small but great for adult kids. Very clean and comfortable. Lots of outdoor deck space we didn’t use because it was cold, but beautiful.

Incredible Trip

These people could not have been better hosts. What a wonderful property as well. Very clean, right on the beach, minutes from everything. We enjoyed every bit of it and will be returning to Saugatauk and only staying here.
