The staff was amazing - so friendly and helpful. I didn’t like how our room was set up. Our bed and a bathtub were upstairs, while the bathroom and living area were downstairs. The hair dryer was upstairs, but I had to sit on the couch to use it due to outlet limitations. The room we stayed in the first night was better.

Great option for one bed+loft units, including much appreciated laundry machines in room. Beds very comfortable. Also beautifully renovated building; we seemed to arrive mid-renovation so that there were many complications with room keys, directed to wrong floor for breakfast, directed to gym that was under construction and nonexistent. When it is fully functional it will be great. Note, no AC and rooms did get a little warm.

Very friendly and helpful reception and housekeeping staff. Sublime apartment. Odd breakfast experience for such a prestigious establishment. Advised that there was no fried eggs but could have scrambled? Extra cost for a second cup of coffee. Had an issue with being charged for our stay on my Debit card on arrival without my knowledge although I had already paid for it prior to arrival through a third party. However when this came to light the issue was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Regardless of issues experienced would certainly return but without the breakfast.

Our stay at Cheval The Edinburgh Grand exceeded all expectations. Nestled on St Andrew Square in Edinburgh’s elegant New Town, it’s just a three-minute walk from Waverley Station and within easy strolling distance of Princes Street, George Street, and countless dining and shopping options . Housed in a beautifully restored bank, the luxury apartments feature fully equipped kitchens, premium bedding, and modern comforts, while on-site amenities—like the fitness centre, bar/lounge, daily breakfast at The Register Club, 24-hour front desk, and complimentary Wi-Fi—add an extra layer of convenience and style . Most memorable of all was the genuinely warm hospitality: every team member went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, always with a friendly smile and prompt assistance . We can’t wait to return for another exceptional experience.

I booked this hotel well in advance and provided my contact details — yet no one informed me of ongoing renovation work. Upon arrival, we were guided through an inconvenient and frankly unacceptable route to our room: a standard elevator to the second floor, a walk down a hallway, then a service elevator back down to the first floor. I was traveling with my 67-year-old father. Despite being told guests shouldn’t use the service elevator, it was our only option — shared constantly with contractors and staff, often smelling unpleasant. At a five-star hotel, guest experience should be the priority. Here, we waited through multiple elevator rounds as staff used them freely, even with trolleys. On our last day, one elevator was broken — yet staff still moved carts, further limiting access for guests. I raised concerns immediately — no follow-up. Only after posting a public review did the hotel respond, offering a room move (on our final night) and later a small refund. Too little, too late. This stay fell far below five-star standards. Communication, courtesy, and common sense were all lacking. The overall message was clear: guest comfort was secondary to logistics. A disappointing experience I wouldn’t expect from any reputable hotel — let alone one with this rating.
