Cabin was nicely appointed. The owners have achieved a rustic cabin feel with quality furnishings, both antique furnishings and modern appliances. The photos of the property are accurate. There are lots of pelts decorating the whole cabin so it might take getting used to them. Clearly a well loved home not just a rental with no character. Nicely set on the side of the mountain with great views . Quiet and private area. Saw a moose out the window on day one. Close to park and town. Highly recommend.

We really loved the location and rustic charm of this cabin. The porch and seating area were especially enjoyable! The unit was very clean and very well outfitted for cooking. However, there were a few important details that weren’t clear in the property listing: The 2nd bedroom is located upstairs, accessible only by a very narrow staircase with steps that are just 6 inches deep. It’s quite steep, and going down literally requires stepping sideways for safety. Additionally, the 2nd bathroom is downstairs, which makes nighttime trips a bit inconvenient for anyone staying upstairs.Another point to note: guests are required to wash AND dry all towels before departure, despite a cleaning fee being charged. Since we had an early 6:00 AM flight out of Denver, we had to handle this the night before. In all my previous VRBO stays, I’ve never been asked to wash towels before checking out. Interesting to note that there are no recent reviews that I could find...when I dug into past reviews, the concern with the narrow staricase, among a couple other issues were noted...We enjoyed our stay overall.

Best Location for Rocky Mountain National Park
Very nice cabin with big living room and great views off the porch of the mountains. Five minutes at most from the park entry and Bear Lake Road. Rustic cabin vibe, nice neighborhood. Good delis and restaurants walkable. Wildlife everywhere, including in the neighborhood!

Lovely old cabin
We had a wonderdul time at Joy Cabin. The cabin offered a beautiful view of Longs Peak. The queen beds were quite comfortable. The twin beds, not so much. Kitchen was nicely stocked and the washer amd dryer were nice to have. Wonderfully located near the entrance to the national park.

RMNP Family Trip
Location is great, minutes from Estes and RMNP entrance. Decor is a true 100 yr old cabin with mounted furs, I liked it. The deer and elk bedded near porch. The humming birds visited the feeders often. The view is breathtaking. A true rustic cabin feel with modern conveniences.
Our family very much enjoyed our stay.

Cute cabin!
The property was mostly clean. We found hair that didn’t belong to us and trash under our beds. A couple things were broken or stained. The management let us know one afternoon that the next day there would be a pest control company property so we were encouraged to leave when they would be there. They couldn’t provide a time and didn’t hear me out on my concerns (I was definitely blown off).
This property is NOT baby friendly. Steep stairs inside, huge step outside to get in. Bathrooms are all in the first floor. The front sunroom floor is so shaky that things were falling off their shelves when we walked through, even when careful. It was also slanted. This wouldn’t have been as big an issue if we didn’t have small kids with us.
The porch has a lovely view, the extras in the kitchen were helpful, towels were clean, beds were clean. Loved the older cabin feel and the location.
Maybe wouldn’t have spent so much if I had known the cons, but it wasn’t bad! Definitely cozy and a nice place to land after a day of hiking.

Vintage Estes Park Cabin
While the cabin ultimately worked well for our family, I think there are a couple of things that may help future renters. This is our 5th summer in Estes and we’ve stayed in a different VRBO each year.
The listing does indicate that the second bedroom is on the upper floor. Please note that the staircase is quite narrow and very steep and that both bathrooms are on the first floor. This could be an issue if anyone in your group is older, has mobility problems, or if young children need to access the bathroom at night.
After staying in Joy Cabin, I feel that picture of the second bathroom is a bit misleading. It is quite small. If you have any people of size in your group (whether weight or height) this bathroom would be difficult to use.
The doors to the main floor bedroom are double French doors, and lack any covering. This bedroom opens directly to the main living space/TV room, making privacy a challenge.
I contacted the management company about box fans. The gentleman that brought the fans out was very pleasant, but it did take additional follow-up the next day before fans were provided. The house does creak (totally normal!) & the box fans served a dual purpose of cooling us off + providing some white noise.
The kitchen was well-stocked, and we appreciated that a lot. The washer/dryer worked well, too. Joy Cabin is clearly a beloved family retreat, and the owners seem charming, but it does have its quirks.

Wonderful cabin
Everything was just what we expected and wanted. Rustic but with sufficient modern conveniences. Location is close to everything but feels private and away from civilization. Quiet and great view. Loved sitting on the porch watching the shifting weather on Longs Peak under a blanket. Our stay couldn’t have been better. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Charming home. Enjoyed. Has a few concerns for retired people
Place does have a difficult mice problem. Traps are fine. Caught a couple and observed 2 more and heard them at night. Probably came in through pipes under the house or in dryer vents.
First stairway step at ground aria of stairway entrance is too big a jump. Need a cement slab on ground to shorten the first step height for old folks.
Electric base board floor heaters only work in master bedroom. Forces you to over heat that area to get heat in living room etc. The thermostat difficult to work. Has a mind of its own.

Another wonderful time at the Joy Cabin
This was our fourth stay at the Joy Cabin so we knew what we were getting. This was our first time in late September so the earlier nights and cooler temps reduced the time spent out on the porch which just might be the best porch in Estes! But we did get to spend more time indoors which was actually pretty fun as well. It's a great place, great location, and I love the historic feel. Well equipped kitchen too.

A nice cabin
The kitchen was large and well-equipped, with a lot of counter space. We didn’t spend any time in the living room or watching TV, because we were either in the park or on the front porch. We loved the front porch, with the rocking chairs and porch swing and the awesome view of Long’s Peak. The location is convenient. You are close to the Beaver Meadow entrance to the park, and not too far from downtown. We have rented several cabins that Steve Ferrante has managed, and he has always been very good to work with.

Perfect Getaway
This property is in a great location! It was easy to get to town and close to activities, yet had the secluded mountain cabin feel with wildlife all around. Well maintained and clear instructions. It was perfect for our family - middle-aged parents with college aged children. There are steep stairs going into the house, to the upstairs, and the bed on the main level is rather tall, so I don't know that I would recommend it for those with mobility issues. For us, it was perfect! The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed to prepare meals. Enjoyed the porches and the main living area for reading books and playing games. Highly recommend this property!

Amazing Views
We really enjoyed our stay at the Joy Cabin for our first family vacation to the Rocky Mountains. The cabin was clean and perfect for our family of four. The weather was a little on the variable side but the views were amazing, especially on a clear day. We saw plenty of elk and deer just outside the sun room window and our kids loved the hammock out front. The cabin is conveniently located to town and to RMNP. Thanks for a great stay!
