Blast from the past

Great refurbished hotel. The decor was like going back to a simpler time with all the old furniture and pictures. Room was clean quiet and the bed comfortable. Bathroom might be a little small but the shower was very nice. Looking forward to our next trip to Colorado and we will be back to stay and enjoy their restaurant.

This is the first tome I stayed at El Rancho. The hotel is excellent in every way. It's a vintage hotel full of old time charm. The rooms have been updated with all the current amenities expected today. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a wonderful gift shop with authentic Native American crafts made by local artists. There is also an excellent restaurant. The greeter, LeRoy, is a historian both of the hotel and the general area. He is also very knowledgeable of much of the Native American crafts in the surrounding area. I will definitely stay here again.

After reading the reviews, expected much more. The front desk staff was very accomodating, offered to put us in the main hotel. Historic and very interesting, but we had not even unloaded our car when we were approached by a man who's pants were falling off and asking for a handout. Parking was very bad, after circling the lot for several minutes we finally got the last open spot. Our room was tidy and the bed comfortable, but very small. We could have showered, brushed our teeth and used the toilet without having to move more than a step. Unfortunately, imho, historic and interesting does not trump no bathroom space and poor access for people with limited mobility. Nice stay, but i wouldn't say 'wonderful' like the reviewers claim.

The property, history, and nostalgic feeling was excellent. The fact it was on route 66 just put the exclamation point on it. Unfortunately the restaurant lounge was really bad. Employees focused on the locals and disregarded the actual customers. The food was certainly not what I expected for this hotel. The Old Fashioned was a sweet mess. Such a shame, considering the history of the hotel itself. Big changes required from my perspective, otherwise you will risk financial losses associated to the restaurant lounge.

Clean. I’m starting with that word because apparently, in this part of our country, businesses treat “clean bathrooms” like it’s a luxury amenity worth bragging about. I didn’t get it… until we drove further east past this hotel and saw what “normal” bathrooms look like around here. Let’s just say I suddenly understood the hype. And then—plot twist—we hit Amarillo, Texas, and experienced our very first cockroach-infested hotel. Nothing says “welcome to town” like a six-legged greeter scurrying across the floor. Stay here as long as possible and get good rest and make sure your next stop isn’t the stay bridge suites IHG in Amarillo Texas. Let me stay on topic and give this hotel the credit it is due. This was the an EXPERIENCE. The outside of the hotel is classic like something you see in a movie. The staff super kind and friendly helpful.our room was the jimmy stewart. Adorable. We also had our own balcony with a neat view and lots of people just walking around the hotel enjoying the museam of movie star autographs. The food was awesome. Tbh the best food so far on Route 66. The bathroom clean and the beds were decent. Also really cool jewelry made by the Zumi tribe. Turquoise and gems…one bummer the pool was closed and the hotel is having renovations
