We had to check in late because it was our wedding night. Our wedding didn’t end until 9pm and so I called the hotel and spoke to the hotel desk and informed them of our plans and to please make a note of why we were checking in late. Well when we get there, the lady at the desk proceeded to help a man who jumped in front of us while we were talking and checked him into his room then she proceeded to tell us they gave our room away. We were so upset they did this! We were treated poorly by her that another lady stepped in and said she was sorry that happened that she seen a note about the reason we were checking in late but they had to the give the room away because we checked in late. She ended up finding us a room but it was a double queen bed room. It was a downgrade from what we originally booked. Needless to say this did ruin our wedding night, a night we can’t get back! I’m very disappointed in this hotel!

The people aren't friendly a d the place is a pit.

It was our anniversary and the place was empty. We asked for and upgrade and they said they couldn't fo anything because we went through Hotels.com and not directly. Everything in the place is fallibg apart or not working. After being gone all day they didn't clean our room. When we called they acted like we were bothering them. We called down for coffee and they said we had to come down to get it. When we checked put I had to leave my ID to get a luggage cart and the parking is on the complete other side from the rooms. We spent .ost the time at other casinos because the people weren't nice and the place is falling apart. We'll definitely go back to the Monarch or Horseshoe next time.

Make sure your there before 9pm

Did not get to stay. The hotel cancelled our room right at 9pm. I was outside trying to park. I had called the front desk at 9 and said I had a trailer and didn't know where I could park because I couldn't fit in the parking garage. The girl on the phone told me to take the sharp Curvey road that goes up the mountain across the street. It took a good 20 minutes to park and walk the very long way back down the street to the hotel. I tried to check in and they said they cancelled my room and didn't have anything available. They do not offer shuttles, so we had to haul all our luggage back up the mountain. I had been driving for 8 hours already, and ended up having to drive the rest of the way home (6 1/2hr) that night. I got home right before 5am. I got ahold of Hotels.com and they did get my money back the next day. But I was very frustrated with the hotel and how things had been handled.

We paid $240 for our stay. The room was wonderful. Check-in isn't until 4 p.m.! Housekeeping knocked on our door at 9 a.m., wanting to clean. There was no place to get a snack or breakfast if you didn't eat Starbucks. There was a lot of $$ for the time allowed in your room.

Feels fairly upscale, but does linger with cigarette smoke, like any casino hotel. The casino itself is a top-notch and upbeat place to play. The 34th floor pool with views just cannot be beat.

Outdated and needs a refurbish

The place needs to be refurbished, place is run down badly. Our room was not cleaned thoroughly as we found a used towel in the bathroom. Beds sheets were a little dirty. No microwave!

This is my second time staying at Ameristar and it does not disappoint. The rooms are great with nice beds, pillows and the bathroom is fantastic! I also love that it's easy to walk to other properties /casinos if you want to check things out. Food at the Fireside Grill is very good with enough variety that you can eat there multiple times and not have the same thing. Overall a positive experience and this is exactly where I'll stay on my next trip to Blackhawk.
