The first room we checked into was next to an internal door which kept being slammed by noisy guests.
We were moved to another room by a lovely and helpful member of staff without any hesitation. The second room was an upgrade from the first one and was in a much quieter part of the hotel so we are very appreciative of that.
The staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating.the location is perfect next to the river and the outdoor space was great (was a lively still and sunny day).
Breakfast was plentiful, hot and delicious.
Room at back very quiet, hotel needs a bit of an upgrade. Busy with multi national walkers. Food was better than expected, and breakfast ok. No pool or spa available
Worst hotel I’ve stayed at in years!! Dirty room with outdated plugs. Staying during a heat wave but the radiator was broken on, so the room was completely un-livable. Staff was rude. Location not actually that great since there is no Hadrian’s wall anywhere near the hotel. Completely outdated property.
This is lovely hotel on a beautiful location. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is good and reasonably priced. We were in a lovely large room with a die for view of the river and hills
My wife and I stayed for one night whilst walking the wall, for which this is in an ideal location. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful with Lettie in particular standing out by helping with specific dietary requirements. The hotel is situated in a lovely spot by the bridge over the River North Tyne. We had a tasty and good sized breakfast the following morning to set us underway for the day's hike. The photo was the view from our room.
Good location to explore Hadrians wall.
Staff friendly. We were upgraded to a superior double room so had nice lake view.
Food good and was reasonably priced and do were the bar drinks.
Good 3 star hotel.
The property was in a great position making easy access to train metro and shops

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Lovely location by the river. In general the staff were friendly, apart from the head barman. The hotel itself in need of an upgrade and the bedrooms & dining room far too not.
Great views of the river from hotel, lovely accommodation and excellent food.

Good traditional hotel
Room very nice, clean and comfortable. Almost all staff were kind, helpful and considerate. Great location by river and right on hadrians wall path hence full of people walking the wall.
We thought there swimming leisure facilities. Didn't realise dogs were allowed in rooms heard them in the morning a few rooms up frightened when passed them in the corridor.Breakfast was excellent, but the main fish was on the small size for evening meal. Garden and bridge location was lovely.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Positive:
- The hotel is at a beautiful location, next to a small river and directly on the Hadrian‘s Wall path.
- The hotel is dog-friendly (when you are a dog lover), so be aware when you have pet-allergies.
- It is very dependent which staff member you are dealing with, some are friendly with a great customer orientation, some have an attitude…..
Negative:
- the bathroom sink was full with water: plug was stuck. Reported this at the reception so in the evening we discovered the room was skipped for cleaning and the water still there.
- staff leaves the masterkeys at the outside of the (closed) door of the room they are working in, so don‘t leave any valuables in your room when you are out.
- The hotel is dog-friendly (when you are not a dog lover)
Good location, some facilities need a little bit of care.

Our room was lovely and had modern conveniences, but it was quite an adventure getting there. Why would a floor have rooms numbered in the 100s and in the 300? And so many fire doors and short ups and downs.
On the plus side, the breakfast buffet had the largest selection we have seen, with plenty of fresh fruit and lovely pastries in addition to everything you might wish in a full English breakfast.
And the grounds were lovely.
Lovely meal in the restaurant but the rooms are very basic and pack lunch for £10 very expensive- nit even a full size bottle of water knowing everyone is walking!
