This was (almost a little unexpectedly) a wonderful 2-night experience. This was our first ski trip to Killington and I chose to stay here due to all the positive reviews. I was between this inn and the seemingly more modern Killington Mountain Lodge but after our stay, I could not have been more satisfied with my choice.
This inn is centrally located amongst various restaurants and taverns and also only about a 5 min drive to Killington’s Snowshed Basecamp. It may not be the most modern hotel but it is very well-kept and clean. During our stay, we had drinks then dinner on 2 separate nights in their bar/lounge area served by Bill, one of the proprietors. The conversation, food and drink were all top-notch.
Only complaints I have would be that food and drink was a little pricey and the bed/pillows were not the most comfortable. However, I would stay here again and for at least a week next time!
Really enjoyed my stay, and the Inn keepers are fantastic!! Breakfast was outstanding! Didn't make time to enjoy their restaurant at dinner, unfortunately as I have heard rave reviews. Specifically my room was nice and comfy, but it was semi loud because almost every occupant had to walk by room. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Birch Ridge Inn!
The hosts were very pleasant. They are really very nice people. The hotel is clean, shines and new. The bed is comfortable. The furniture is new. The room is pleasant to be in. Breakfasts are delicious. I stayed five nights and each morning there was a different breakfast. One thing you have to be mindful of is that breakfast starts at 8:00 am, the same time that Killington Mountain opens. I am a very early riser and it would mean a lot to me if breakfast would begin an hour earlier. I highly recommend that hotel.
We stayed for 4 nights during a very cold January week. The innkeepers, Bill and Mary, were very friendly- as was all of the staff. The room was smaller than we are used to but was comfortable and clean. We chose a room with a fireplace, and it was wonderful on after a day of skiing. The breakfasts were delicious and filling, especially for skiing. Everyday there was a different homemade tea bread and muffin as well as a cooked entree. One note is to let the innkeepers know if you have any food sensitivities or restrictions. I wasn't aware that I should let them know beforehand. They were very accommodating. We made dinner reservations for the first night. The food and service were outstanding! We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.
Some other things to note: our pillows were thin (there were 3 in the room aside from the ones in pillow shams that I don't use at hotels), so next time I will request another pillow, I had a small pillow with me that helped. The water pressure was sometimes very low and sometimes we had to wait for hot water but it was manageable.
Awesome stay at Birch ridge inn! Only stayed for one night but wish we stayed for more! Bill and Mary were extremely welcoming and accommodating. Bill helped my boyfriend and I get our terrible rental car up the hill in the snow when we weren’t able to. Mary whipped us up a delicious breakfast and gave us tips on what to wear for our first lesson skiing and even had hand warmers for cheap for us to buy! Fabulous one night stay and would love to go back our next trip up to Killington!
We loved everything about this property. The owners/innkeeepers were friendly and welcoming, but not intrusive. Our room and all common areas were exceptionally clean, and very comfortable. The setting of the property was private, quiet, and quite beautiful in October.
Breakfast was included, and Mary outdid herself each day! Yummy fresh baked muffins and breads served warm, and a delicious hot entree. Such a treat!
Highly recommended!
Bill and Mary are outstanding both as hosts and tour advisors. Bill carried our heavy bags to our well-appointed room & was available for all our questions. Mary had excellent advice on where/how to see the best Fall colors. She served an excellent breakfast, and the in-facility bar and dining came as a lovely surprise as well. Our room was clean, quiet, & had a great bed.
Property was lovely, nice and quiet. Open Monday for dinner would have been nice as it is extremely difficult to get in anywhere (without a 2 hour wait) in Killington and Rutland, almost all restaurants closed. Fast food only.
