Hotel Alza Kyoto was hands down the best of the four hotels I stayed in during my trip to Japan. The location is unbeatable—perfectly situated near transportation and major tourist sites, making it easy to explore the city. The room was spotless, modern, and filled with high-tech touches that made the stay extra comfortable. One of the highlights? A jacuzzi tub with a built-in TV—such a relaxing treat after a day of sightseeing. Everything about my stay felt thoughtful and top-quality. Highly recommended!

Relatively central to Gion. Walking distance to numerous excellent restaurants. Plain and traditional from outside, but high-end inside with elevator to rooms, inside the room was automatic curtains and lights. Very clean comfortable and quiet. Blackout curtains/shades, high end bidet with automatic functions. Dedicated shower/bath wet room. Plenty of room inside. Total of 4 floors, so approximately 20-30 rooms. We booked it 5 months early. This was a very charming hotel that had great amenities, great location and extremely nice staff. I had an eye issue that needed attention when I was there and Lulu and Dinda were extremely helpful in getting me an appointment with a specialist within a hour of me checking in. Amazing!! as it was a late friday afternoon as well. Thank you:) I would definitely stay here again with my family if we revisit Kyoto!!

First, the staff was phenomenal. We stayed six nights and they could not have been more helpful! The hotel has a lovely boutique feel in a big city, and is centrally located. A wonderful place to come back to after busy sightseeing days. I would definitely recommend this hotel to adults visiting Kyoto. I’m not sure it’s great for families but it was perfect for us as a couple.

Kyoto overlooking the river

We had a very nice three night visit. We enjoyed the breakfast ( and very much appreciated the extra mile in delivering one for 6:00 am the day we had an early start). The location is wonderful, our room had a river view and when we stepped out the hotel right into Gion and its wonderful ambiance.

This property was is such a good location. Right across from the river. There is a beautiful walking path along the river that you can take to get to any of the main streets of Kyoto. The hotel staff was so friendly & accommodating. I appreciated that this was a quieter part of Kyoto but, walking distance to any popular destination & amazing food spots! Would definitely recommend!
