4/10 Poor

When I first checked in, the door to my room pushed open only half way because it was catching on the rug, the safety latch was MISSING, and the dead bolt wouldn't turn. When I went back to the desk I was told that they couldn't switch my room because they were fully booked. I told them they would need to issue a refund because I was not going to stay in a room I could not properly secure. Upon hearing this, a manager appeared from the bar area and asked about the issue. Apparently this was a known issue and maintenance "was supposed to have fixed it" that morning. She said they would switch the room; and then did so.
The hotel is old and out of date. There are creaky floorboards in the halls, frayed rugs, etc.
The room had an odor of cleaning supplies which I quickly realized was the scent beads (which looked like dryer beads/fabric softener) dumped INTO the air conditioner vent.
The next morning I went to breakfast, returned, and my key was not working (well before checkout time). I went to the desk and the man there blamed the "batch" of cards he had because they were all "deactivating." He gave me a new key. When I returned to my room -- where I had turned the air off -- it was clear the room used to be a smoking room and they had not gotten the odor out and were attempting to mask it with the scent in the air conditioning unit (which, quite frankly, is an incredibly dangerous practice - especially if people have allergies).
This was a disgusting hotel.
