I was exhausted by time I reached the hotel and very eager to take a hot shower and relax.
After check-in I was sent to a room on the 4th floor. As I opened the door I was hit by the most foul smell! I was in disbelief that I'm in a "hotel" I then walked into the room and looked around.
My discoveries - damaged blinds, paint peeling off doors, broken appliances, broken lamp in cupboard, dirty cupboard space, make up and stains on all 4 pillows, unclean sheets and smelly old thrifted looking comforter, hair in fridge, bedding, toilet and shower area, dirty floors, damaged A/C, stink coming through ventilation, remote not working.
After a nervous breakdown I told the receptionist I am not satisfied with the room and her wonderful suggestion was to change the pillow cases! What!? How about bleach and a complete revamp - I discovered very quickly why the bookings non-refundable.
Eventually I was given a better room, that was cleaner, though the disappointment was evident.
The room given after expressing my annoyance was closer to what I booked online. Which proved to me the receptionist was playing games ripping me off.
Ps* the African cleaner was the most accommodating host unlike everyone else in that building!
In short, if you want to be disappointed and pay hard earned money for an establishment in worse condition than a government provided homeless shelter. This is your spot!
Never again. To the owner - raise the standards of cleanliness and safety please.
