I booked a two-bed room through Expedia, but on arrival was given a single. I was told all two-bed rooms were sold out and the only option was to pay for a suite. The “suite” was underwhelming, and I ended up on an uncomfortable fold-out couch to accommodate my colleague.
Later that evening, the water stopped working. When we called down, staff were curt and dismissive, simply saying the whole building was without water. No apology, discount, or effort to make up for the inconvenience was offered. In the end they just placed the blame for the booking on Expedia, gave me a fold out couch ina "suite" and a poor experience.
The one bright spot was the housekeeping staff, especially one gentleman from Jamaica who went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Unfortunately, the overall experience left a bad impression. With so many options in New York, I’ll choose differently next time.
