A great stay at the Residence Inn Marriott

The staff /service was excellent! Nothing was too much to ask! that goes for all staff (at lobby, at breakfast area and cleaning staff). Room was comfortable. Location was excellent. Whilst breakfast was plentiful, it should have more choices. The only real negative was the elevators: They take a long time, forcing lots of guests to use the stairs!

Lovely hotel, staff were for the most part really nice and kind. Only problem we had was the wait for an elevator could take 20-30 minutes at busy times, it meant we had less time exploring the city on our last day as getting an elevator that was empty enough for us and our bags was near impossible and ate about and hour and a half from our morning.

Our stay at Residence Inn Times Square came about because the hotel where we had originally booked--the Blakely by Luxe Urban--had closed suddenly, no warning, four days before our trip to NYC so we were scrambling to find a similar accommodation for three people, which Expedia helped me do. We had a nice 34th floor room with a view of the Empire State Building with a king bed, pull-out couch, and kitchenette with large refrigerator. Very convenient for snacks, drinks, and leftovers. The space was a bit smaller than the previous place would have been, but it was clean, comfortable bed, very convenient to walk to the theater district and subway stations. Overall, we enjoyed out stay. The oddest thing, though, was when my adult daughter went down to the breakfast buffet, which was nothing fancy but quite adequate. She wanted to take a couple photos to show us what was available before we decided whether to come down and breakfast room staff sternly forbade her from taking pictures. They said "Copyright!" which was ...?? The next day while we were there I saw another woman try to take a photo of the buffet and the same thing happened. An employee jumped in and said "No pictures!" I intended to ask the desk clerk about this when we checked out, but forgot.

Good value stay

Pretty good stay in midtown Manhattan. Hotel well located a stones throw from Bryant park, penn st, times sq and empire state. Breakfast good but gets very busy so we were lucky we had a jet lagged child and were there when it opened at 6.30 as by 7.15-7.30 was v busy. 2 lifts broke on our last day which caused a 30 min delay getting from 18th floor downstairs which with a 20 month old toddler was not ideal but staff were v apologetic. Worth making note though that with only 4 lifts, this is a potential issue again in the future. Room was a good size for central Manhattan.
