My last motel 6 stay was at the LAX airport and it was perfectly good. This was a different experience on this frigid and icy Newark New Jersey day. I was given the key to a room with two doors to the outside: one facing the freeway, the other the parking lot, both with significant gaps that let the frigid air in. There was, of course heat, although it did not work at first. All the buttons were busted, or rather seem to have imploded and were impossible to push in. But the kind and helpful desk person came to the room and remedied that by jamming the temple tips of his glasses into one of the buttons/cavities and it turned on. Thereafter setting the temperature in the room to a balmy 85 degrees. Jamming and forcing are the way of the land, apparently, because the electrical plug was jammed about two inches into a large gaping hole in the wall. The towel rack fell in my hands immediately, so I jammed it back in. More worrisome was the shower stall floor. There was a large deposit of an unknown hard substance about ½ inch thick all around the drain, substance I later recognized as remains of human despair. The best part of the hotel is the 24-hour free airport shuttle which expedited me out of the situation at two in the morning as I realized that I would sleep better sitting upright in an airport seat than on that bed. If you are looking for an affordable location to shoot a horror or slasher movie, I would greatly recommend room 201.
