“This historic Victorian was once home to Admiral William Sowden Sims (past President of the Naval War College in Newport Rhode Island) which inspired the name of our accommodations, but now features King bed Studios with Kitchenette and fireplace including private baths, Cable TV, Air-Conditioning, Free Wi-Fi, and Free off-street parking.

It’s perfect for government / military per diem travel or for teleworkers who need a change of scenery.

The garden is private....yet just minutes away, you’re in the center of Newport’s many activities, historical attractions, fine restaurants, ocean beach, and unique shops. At the end of each day, you’ll return to sleep in quiet, historic settings.

Spent a long weekend here and will definitely do so again. Great location! Just under a mile into town so we walked the whole weekend. Super close to the cliff walk. Really spacious room, easy check in process (an early check in was accommodated which was greatly appreciated), the baked goods/coffee/fruit in the morning were really nice. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

We booked an overnight at Admiral Sim’s last minute as we wanted a beach getaway for 2 days. We couldn’t be happier about our stay. It was just what we were looking for! Newport getaway

This house is in a perfect location to walk to everything you want to enjoy in Newport. We parked our car when we arrived and didn't need it again the whole stay. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you need to relax and they even serve homemade baked goods for breakfast. This is the second time I have stayed at Admiral Syms house and will definitely be back.

Great Place to Stay in Newport!

We had a great stay here! Owners were very nice and easy to communicate with. The house is about a 20-25 minute walk to the busy part of Newport so we walked it most of the time but did need the occasional Uber. Rooms were spacious and clean. Bathroom was very nice. Definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting the area.

If there were a 10 star rating I would give it. Our stay was perfect. Cozy room, comfortable bed, a sweet breakfast with home baked breads. The property is immaculate. The wrap around porch was a special bonus. We sat outside each evening sipping wine and playing games. The neighborhood is beautiful and very safe. It is walking distance to Cliff Walk. Convenient to everything. Marie and Shelly thought of everything a guest would need and provided it. Thank you so much for a perfect stay. We will be back.

Wonderful accommodations in Newport!

One of the best rentals we've ever stayed at. The house was fantastic, the room was immaculate and charming, the brand new porch area was very inviting.We were only there for one night, but would have definitely liked to stay longer. The owners really took care of making sure that the room had everything we could have imagined needing! Being able to bring our dog and have her feel comfortable in the room was fantastic! The house was in walking distance to downtown and the Cliff Walk. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property to anyone looking for a stay in Newport!
