Lovely stay in Newport

The Wayfinder was a great place for our two night stay in Newport. The beds were comfortable and we liked that it seemed recently updated. The pool area was very nice, too. Staff were friendly. The rooms are set up in a confusing way that leads to getting lost, but you get used to it and the staff will give you a helpful map upon arrival. I guess it’s aptly named! I wouldn’t recommend paying extra for a balcony room because they overlook the parking lot. The location is a bit further from downtown/Thames Street than I would have liked, not walking distance, but it’s sort of between the Mansions and downtown. Overall, a great stay!

Mid century modern interiors are well done, very friendly and helpful staff and excellent meals for dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Not in a walkable area but that didn’t detract from our stay since it’s only a few minutes to the Newport mansions if they’re in your plans

This was a very old re done motel. The rugs in the room were old and dirty , the staff was nice but didn’t get room cleaned up until late in day. Expensive amenities such as coffee, water etc. can see daylight from door never closed properly

We reserved two rooms, and both were disappointing. One room was supposed to have a king bed and a double or queen sofa bed — it only had a very small twin sofa that clearly couldn’t accommodate my grandchildren. The hotel said they had no other room available. Luckily, we had brought an inflatable mattress, or we would’ve been stuck. The second room was supposed to have two queen beds and a crib. No crib was provided. When we called reception, we were told no one could help us. Only after insisting — and showing our booking confirmation — did they bring a playpen, which was not what we were expecting. The pool had no towels available, and when we asked, we were told to come back in 2 hours as they were “all washing.” Breakfast at the restaurant was another low point: the French toast was inedible, and the staff was rude and visibly indifferent. To top it off, the Wi-Fi didn’t work for two days. This was not a 4-star experience. At best, it felt like a 2- or 3-star hotel. Definitely not worth the price.

Overall a nice stay. Good location. But we had to ask for toilet paper, the phone didn’t work, sage was broken, and a/c was not strong and the shower leaked constantly. We did ask the front desk to fix the problems and only one was addressed.
