Amazing beach house only a short walk from the ocean! A great location at a great North Carolina beach! The neighborhood is charming and quiet and the neighbors are friendly. The beach is gorgeous and just a straight walk or drive down the road. We can hear the ocean waves at night. Generous front porch with rocking chairs and table. Large master bedroom with gorgeous bath. Coffee ready to go, a library, cable TV in living room. Please note that there is a main road to cross - E. Oak Island Dr. - to get to the beach. It gets busy during rush hour and high season. It’s better to take a right there and then a left on 73rd St. to avoid waiting. Parents will need to accompany children if walking.

The cleaners were running late and we had to wait out in the driveway with our groceries for them to finish cleaning while watching them smoke. They don’t appear real professional but the place was clean. We did a lot of cooking and the place could use some updates. The stove was all off and would get really hot or not hot enough. We also used the bbq grill which was tiny and also on its last leg. The children seemed to have some issues in the hall bath with trying to get the water turned off.

The house itself is charming and relatively close to the beach. Had a few issues with the shower...unable to turn it off! And not being able to directly text the property manager and have to go through the vrbo site took time. I e entually was able to shut it off without any floodind.

Parking was extremely handy, right at the front door. We were very satisfied with the cleanliness and set up of the home. We always enjoy the shopping on Oak Island, there are hidden treasures throughout the island. Our host was available for questions and made us feel welcome.

The VRBO listing was misleading. It stated that the property had a beach view and it clearly did not! You could not see the beach or water from the house. This should be taken out of the listing for sure. The outside shower did not work either.

We loved our stay in this house! It was very clean and comfortable. This location is a short drive to the beach, grocery store, restaurants, etc. The neighborhood is quiet. I loved that they had beach chairs we could use. We also enjoyed sitting in the backyard by the firepit. The owner was quick to respond to our messages. It felt like a home away from home. We will definitely be booking here again.

Lots of room for improvement

Overall the house wasn't terrible but lots of room for improvement. The neighborhood was quiet and had a mix of nicer and rundown homes. The house itself wasn't very clean, especially for anyone with a more detailed eye. Old hats and shoes on a rack as we walked into the house may make it feel homy but they are not needed and take away from the cleanliness factor. Older furniture not terrible but could use updating. We only used the master bedroom, but we had to wash the bed sheets as they had hair on them when we pulled the covers back. The mattress itself was comfortable to sleep on but when we took the sheets off, there are a bunch of stains on the mattress. Not fresh stains but still an issue, especially for those with a more critical eye, or those with phobias. We loved Oak Island though, and would come back, just not to this place

Triplets to the beach

The grandparents brought their grands to the beach for a week. The accommodations were perfect! We had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The outside shower area was well used, as was the washer and dryer. All amenities were wonderful. Local dining was also great. The half-mile walk to and from the beach was convenient and the neighborhood was quiet. We very much enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend this relaxed area of the community.
