This is my first time writing a hotel review, even though I’ve been an Expedia member for a long time. Unfortunately, my experience at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Berkeley Marina was not good. I booked a room with two double beds for three guests nearly three weeks in advance. When I arrived around 10:20 p.m., check-in was quick and smooth. However, I was surprised to find a room with just one king bed instead of the two doubles I had reserved. I immediately called the front desk, but was told that this was the only room left. I explained that we specifically booked two beds, but the only solution offered was to use the couch. Also I was not happy that the front desk did not inform me of the room change at check-in. If room types can be changed without notice, it makes the booking process feel unreliable. I would like to give one star for the poor experience. However, I appreciated that the hotel allowed us to store our luggage for a few hours after checkout, so I’m giving three stars instead.

We enjoy staying right on the bay. It is peaceful and a nice place to take a walk outdoors. It is close to everything but feels like you are in a safe bubble. We also like having the restaurant and market there.

One of the Better Deals in the East Bay

Pros: Comfortable bed. Next to Marina...good place to walk around and close to the water. Friendly staff. Lots of electrical sockets for all one's gadgets. Good wifi. Cons: Rooms are fairly ordinary, parking fee is ridiculous. Fortunately, one can park across the street for free.

(a) Shower flow was weak (b) We pay 44$ / day to park the car in the Hotel parking lot. Twice I was approached by Homeless Men for money when I was parking my car. Felt unsafe Breakfast was excellent, Rooms were decent. A microwave in the room will help.

Poor cleanliness. The rag they cleaned with was left in the room on the dresser with our things. The bottles of soap and shampoo were empty. We reserved a room for 3 and they kept giving us 2 towels over several days. It takes 30-40 mins for them to give you an extra towel after calling the front desk. Very old property. The bathtub doesn’t drain when taking a shower. Half the water comes out of the tap rather than the shower head. Don’t stay here
