Marina life

It’s an old hotel but such a lovely spot by the water that even though I grew up in Berkeley, it’s where I always like to stay when I can get affordable nights. The smell of the water and the sound of the seagulls always makes me happy. The facilities are very nice too with a decent little gym and a pool as well as a good walking area.

The property needs an upgrade but it is convenient and the rooms are clean. The parking fees at $40.00 per night for self parking is very high but again it is convenient for us and it is quiet.

The first room they put me in was immediately adjacent to the elevator, from which I was disturbed by every conversation had by everyone using it, not to mention the mechanical sound of the elevator itself. They then moved me to another room, which upon arriving in, clearly smelled of cigarette smoke. I was in this room not thirty minutes when I heard what sounded like someone trying to use the key card door lock mechanism. When I went to investigate, there was a couple who had been told that they were to check in to this exact room. So for the next hour, I had an angry ‘wife’ parked with all their luggage, and an angry disposition, outside my room while the ‘husband’ talked to the check-in staff. All in all, I was very dissatisfied with my entire stay.

shabby, not chic nor cheap

There were no luggage carts, no employees nothing to make up for the fact that they had blocked all of the handicap parking next to the entrances. we were told that adjoining bank of parking spaces would be blocked and made available for handicap, but that was not done third floor room -- forced to shuttle luggage back-and-forth as elevator was not reliable. building has seen better days. It is due for a rehabilitation--layers of paint and off, smelling cleaning products.

Great stay overall!! Only issues were housekeeping slamming doors and yelling to one another. I work nights and sleep in the morning and afternoon and was looking forward to a quiet relaxing stay and that was a bit disturbing. Asked for toilet paper that never came

The location and price are really good. The first room smelled of smoke so we had to change to a new room. The front desk lady said they would move our stuff to the second room during the day. They did not so I had to go to the front desk, get the key to the first room and move our stuff myself after a long day. Moving room and myself took a bug part of the 3 day w/e. Then we went to the spa which was not hot, it was 90 degrees at a stretch. To make things worse it was like sitting in a chlorine tub rather than water tub. Our eyes are still red front the high chlorine content of the pool too... All of the above are fixable and would make for a far better experience.

This place needs refurb. It looks beat up. The rooms are very average and the floor I was on had a very musty smell to it. Feels like it is not being managed well or invested in as a property people want to stay at. Like the location but the hotel needs a revamp.

The balcony is small…. Compare to other double tree balcony … hotel use to be nice, keyword use to be … don’t look like anything has been updated … hotel is ok but they charge for parking and have the nerve to have taxes on the parking charge
