We had a wonderful stay at the Sunset Inn. The owner and staff are super friendly and made our stay a very nice experience. Location is great- very close to the ocean and I enjoyed seeing the local deer every morning right across the street from the Inn.

Very friendly staff. Very cute little bungalows clean and quiet. Very good parking right near the front door. Beautiful location as we were driving to the establishment we saw about a dozen deer just grazing in a park nearby. Close to trails in the beach and some beautiful overlooks.

This property is a little gem 2 1/2 blocks from the ocean. The rates were very reasonable for a January visit. The entire place was very clean, with beautiful planters along the drive area, little seating area outside the rooms. My room had a portable fireplace but I believe many of the rooms have built-in fire places. It appears that this was an older business that has been very tastefully updated. Breakfast is available in the lobby . The lobby is small and it is best to take it back to your room. During the warmer months there is outside seating and fireplace on a patio. Service was excellent. Highly recommend staying here.

Sunset Inn is in a convenient location, just a few minutes drive from restaurants and a few minutes walk from a beautiful walking path along the beach. Great place for sunrise or sunset viewing! Free parking, clean, and the jacuzzi tub is nice. There wasn't enough hot water one evening, though, and when I tried to use the jets in the tub, the room downstairs complained about the noise (at 9:30 pm). The bed had nice linens but the mattress was very hard. The breakfast consisted of yogurt, donuts, fruit, and coffee/tea, and everything is crammed into the small lobby. There is outdoor seating, but it was too cold to sit out there. So, there are pros and cons to this place. Kind of felt like beach cottages, somewhat bare bones, but a good location.

Zero soundproofing

I paid extra for an upgraded room which turned out to be the only room at the motel that’s beneath another room. There is absolutely zero soundproofing and the floors are so creaky and loud. When the neighbors turned their tub jets the noise was deafening. The tub stopper didn’t work and there wasn’t enough hot water. The room did not match the photos and was much smaller. The room I was moved to had ants.

This is my second time reviewing the Sunset Inn as we have stayed there before. As was the case during our previous stay, we absolutely loved everything! We were warmly welcomed, our room was spotless, the location is extremely convenient, the bed was comfortable and parking was easy. The breakfast was really an expanded continental breakfast with both hot and cold cereal, donuts, bagels, raisin bread, yogurt, granola bars, several juices and a fabulous coffee machine that makes various lattes, cappuccinos, hot chocolate and coffee/decaf. If you want big and fancy, this isn’t the place for you, but if you like unpretentious, clean and welcoming, you won’t find anything better.

The Inn is beautiful. It has steps up to the room. Only a couple but with severe mobility issues they were a bit scary. The noise doesn’t stop until after midnight. People don’t think about others and door slamming was excessive. The bed was very hard and not easy to sleep on.

Four night stay

Four nights to see the area. Owners seemed to genuinely want to make our stay and trip special and were very nice. Room was nice and balcony had a partial ocean view. Breakfast was simple but good. Seems to be limited parking spaces but we never had an issue. Quiet location, and with the windows open we could hear the surf. Many good restaurants within a few minutes drive. Beach was about a mile away and the lighthouse 1/4 mile away. Carmel was about a ten minute drive. We had a very nice stay and would definitely stay again

It is a 5 minute easy walk to the beach with fabulous sunset views. They made you feel welcome and comfortable. Coffee machine had delicious gourmet coffees. The only suggestion is add side tables.

The place is walking distance to the ocean, Lighthouse and Monarch Sanctuary. Our room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. The hosts are very kind and accommodating. I Would definitely stay here again.
