Enjoy the perfect cozy cabin in a secluded setting like no other, yet close to town. The home is new, with the finest details of mountain-lodge architecture and modern finish. We clean and maintain the “Hideaway” cabin ourselves, assuring spotless quality to make your stay fresh and pleasant.

Located within 60 acres of dense pine forest with a pristine mountain view from a wall of windows and a large back deck. This cabin was built with a quiet, peaceful retreat in mind. So, by design, there is no TV or wifi, yet one can easily connect to Verizon. It is perfect for those who truly want to unplug from big city noise.

Each of the 2 bedrooms have fluffy queen-sized beds and the cozy living room has an easy-to-use, gas fireplace encased in gorgeous rock. Super tall ceilings with massive wood beams add to its charm. The fine craftsman finish includes solid maple and slate flooring and custom solid-wood cabinets.

If a quiet get-a-way is your theme, the Hideaway will be your dream. The walk-in shower with floor-to-ceiling tile provides a shower experience to remember.

The house is just 3 miles north of historic Pagosa Springs with its hot springs, trails, restaurants and coffee shops — closer to Wolf Creek than if you stay in the Pagosa Lakes area. The Hideaway has two bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, washer/dryer, front deck, back deck with grill, and the spiral staircase is an exquisite touch. Everyone raves about the Big Chill retro kitchen appliances.

Enjoy our personal one-mile walking or running loop trail which leads you to another personal deck with an amazing view of Pagosa Peak, a labyrinth walkway, and take in sunrises off the deck. In winter months, 4WD is highly recommended. No Pets. This ensures a wonderful non-allergenic experience for all.

This place was nothing short of absolutely amazing. Samuel was such a great host and provided very detailed information for us. After months of searching for the perfect little place to celebrate my husband's birthday this place knocked it out of the park. We had the best time and my husband had the most amazing birthday. Exactly what we had hoped for! The "off the beaten path" feel, but convenience of being only a few minutes from town was ideal. The quality and cleanliness left nothing to be desired. All the amenities, from the kitchen to the fireplace performed just right. We bought good steaks for dinner without checking the grill first, and were delighted to see that the grill was fueled up and worked like a champ. Great views, and a good fit for a family with two children.

From the cozy eat in kitchen, to the cushy armchairs facing the fireplace, to the most comfy bed in the world, this is a place to get away from it all and b r e a t h e !!! Definitely a very peaceful and tranquil experience in a very nicely appointed mountain cabin with wonderful views. We saw deer and a grey squirrel on the property with Elk grazing in nearby fields down the road. The host was very responsive and left a nice bottle of Malbec wine for us to enjoy.

Look no further.I wanted to take my wife for a surprise trip to someplace special (for a ‘big’ birthday number) and decided on the Pagosa Springs area. Looked at numerous places and then found Samuels Hideaway; it was absolutely perfect for us. It felt like our home.Huge deck facing the San Juan mountains upon which we enjoyed morning coffee and evening cocktails. Kathy and I didn’t even leave the property the entire first day because there is a mile long trail through the surrounding heavily wooded area that beat most anything we’d been on lately.If you’re seeking a spiritual stay, enjoy privacy and nature; look no further!

Stop...right...now...you've found it!!! The most perfect place to stay in Pagosa! If you've been searching for the majesty of nature, and the artistry of a human being, this is THE cabin in the woods for you!!! Nestled happily on a hill at the end of a lovely gravel driveway, perches this gorgeous place of peace. The setting is probably one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, and I spent hours (yes, hours) on the back porch, gazing over the woodland forest and to Pagosa Peak in the distance. This cabin is exceptionally appointed, by a man who truly has an artist's eye and a taste for quality. This was a dream refuge for me, and one that I will absolutely visit again, to rest and sit quietly and cozy in the beauty of nature. Oh, and Pagosa was great too...but I liked the cabin better!!!!

Third time's a charm--just like the first two

Our third stay at the Hideaway was just as wonderful as the last two times. Secluded, yet close to town. We spent each afternoon and happy hour on the deck overlooking miles of trees, meadows, and mountains. We set out our hummingbird feeder each day and had lots of takers. Samuel is the perfect host, which means he isn't there unless you need something!If you like hiking or scenic drives, be sure to pick up pamphlets on each topic at the visitor center downtown. We hiked to Opal Lake one day, and Buckles Lake another--a bit of driving to get there, but the hikes were fairly easy and well worth it. The one-mile hiking loop around the Hideaway is a very pleasant walk, as well.Thank you Samuel, for sharing your peaceful cabin and we look forward to another stay in the future.

Gorgeous, quiet cabin

Wonderful stay at this cabin. Was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. No Internet or tv made for a much-needed unplug to over Christmas.Sam was a wonderful host - I had a few questions and he was quick to answer.If you need to unplug and slow down, this is the place for you.

Peaceful Stay

Great location. Not too far from town but feels like you’re out there. The hiking trail on the property was a great amenity. We spent countless hours sitting on the upstairs deck looking across the valley at the surrounding peaks. We would definitely return.
