We first stayed in romance swim up room, but after discovering huge cockroach in the bathroom and then something biting us in the bed at night (over 15 bites), we were given a swim up villa. So we had to pack all our stuff and check everything to make sure no cockroaches hidden in our luggage. No more bites at night in the villa, but another cockroach in the bathroom. It is not something we were expecting to happen at this kind of high quality hotel. We did an intensive search beforehand but this issue did not come up in any reviews. However once we informed our butler and showed the pictures/videos, he told that it does happen as we the hotel is in the middle of a jungle. There is a 1-2cm gap under the door so it is an easy entrance for cockroaches.
When checking out, we informed the lady at the reception abt the cockroaches but she did not even apologise.
On the first morning we were told that they would show us the property which would take 60, max 90min. Instead of that we were taken to a meeting with a travel club sales person and it took 3 hours. It was not something we were planning to do on our honeymoon. We found the situation very uncomfortable and we did not like repeating that we are not interested.
The food at the resort is good and the bars as well. Swim up pools were not crowded during our stay, which we loved. But I would not go back to any ground level room because of the cockroaches.
