The Ups & Downs at Hotel Max

The Hotel Max has a great location downtown. The front desk staff are friendly, helpful ,polite and attentive. Unfortunately they did not know that as Silver VIP members, for each of our two rooms we booked, we were supposed to each receive a $21 hotel credit. A bit disappointing as bottled water was $7 a bottle and the resort fee $32. The rooms were both clean, modern, updated and nicely decorated. The one working elevator made it extremely slow trying to get to the rooms or down to the lobby. The complimentary beer tasting happy hour was a nice surprise. Hopefully, the second elevator gets fixed to help alleviate some of the problems we experienced during our one night stay prior to our cruise.

Only one small working elevator. (try going to lobby within four hours of checkout time. No room service, had to pay delivery for the one outside restaurant. No decaf coffee. Limited TV. Closet was teeny. Two small drawers for two people.

No what is advertised to be -disappointed

Staff was great but the hotel’s website is misleading. They don’t have records or players in all floors. Only on the 5th floor. We were recommended this hotel by friends that stayed here before for the sub pop experience that they advertise. We booked for the experience and it was just a mediocre one. We were sincerely disappointed.

Don't expect more than the basic necessities

I found my room to be clean and as quiet as one could expect from the city. The bed was comfortable. I was in town for a conference so the only real time I spent in the room was to sleep, and for my purposes the accommodation was acceptable. However! Other visitors might want to know that my room was not stocked with hand soap, the garbage from the last visitor had not been taken out, and over the course of my 4 night stay nobody ever came to clean the room or check my supplies. The toilet had to be flushed multiple times every time I used it. The hotel's free WiFi was so slow that it was completely unusable. Ironically, there's no information on the hotel in your room - except a QR code for you to scan which supposedly has all the information. Which never loads. More annoying than all of this is that the hotel uses an AI answering service. I needed to contact the hotel a couple of times regarding an issue with my reservation, and each time the AI disconnected me repeatedly. When it did not disconnect me, it kept asking me the same question over and over even when I answered simply "YES." So just know that if you should not count on being able to contact hotel staff if you get lost or need help during your stay.
