Older motel - a bit run down

The motel is older, and while they advertised recently remodeled, they either hadn't gotten to the room we were in, or skipped it. The beds were mattress & box springs, and creaked a bit. We travel with our dog so we were in a pet friendly room with no carpet, which was just fine. The ahower/tub/toilet area is pretty small & not in best of shape, but the shower & water pressure itself was fine. Had a hard time figuring out TV, changing the channels was a challenge. Spent two nights, it is probably better for one night only. Breakfasts were good. The clerk that checked us in was friendly, and actually I observed him not just checking in, but changing beds & cleaning rooms, so they must be short-staffed. The lady in charge of breakfast was also friendly & did a great job meeting everyone's needs, she even cleared the tables when you were done eating.

Problems with booking

When booking the room, i told them that i had a pet and they said that was not a problem. But when we got there they did not have it booked for a pet. So we had to take a different room. Also it rained that night and our window leaked.

Staff was great! Friendly and helpful. We had a newly renovated room and it was clean, great air conditioning and the mini fridge nearly froze everything, it worked so well!! There is no elevator. Maybe I missed that detail when I booked our stay but it should have been advertised up front, we had to haul our carload up the stairs.

My husband I were very disappointed with our stay. When we were checking in, the guy at the front desk was rude to my husband. When we got upstairs to our room there was pee in the toilet still, pee on the toilet seat, and the shower was also dirty. It was disgusting. They did come up and clean it once we called the front desk. When we got back from dinner we noticed that the side door leading to the outside didn’t lock. We went to the front desk to inform that same guy and he responded that he knew it was broken, that it had broken during renovations and they didn’t want to fix it until renovations were over (I didn’t see any renovations taking place). The guy acted very annoyed that we brought it to his attention. When we went to go hot tub the jets didn’t work and the floor around the hot tub was also dirty. There was another couple in the hot tub and we started talking to them. She told us that when they went to went to their room their hotel door was open and their room was also dirty when they arrived. I understand places get worn down from use and get outdated but the cleanliness was awful. The hotel was very dirty and unacceptable. I would never stay here again.
