We’ll start by saying this hotel is trying to maintain the Marriott brand and did their best to battle the tar that guests tracked in from the beach. The guitar cannot be avoided and is not the hotel‘s fault, but the clientele staying at the property need to be held accountable and the hotel needs to respect its property and the amount of money guests are paying to stay here. Hotel is a non-smoking property, but spoke to security at the pool and he told us yeah let him do it. They’ll be quick and it’s not that bad. Guess we’re smoking all around the pool area, you had to walk through it at the front door to check in and signs are posted everywhere that say it’s a non-smoking property guess also let their children climb on the tables in bar Louie, stick their hands in the cereal, dispensers and spray guests directly in the face with water guns at the pool. Staff/security were uninterested in enforcing hotel policy and told us this was the new norm. We will not stay at this hotel again nor will we visit South Padre. This was our third visit to the island. We are pleased to see that the island has improved with restaurants, sea turtle Inc., etc. unfortunately the clientele that comes to SPI and this hotel have no respect for taking care of the area or others. A grown adult even told her kids she was getting back in the pool so she could pee and we watched her do it! Disgusting…vacation elsewhere!!
Hotel workers park in the same parking lot as guests. Observed handicapped guests walking from the lot across the street while hotel staff parked front row.
Daily traffic jam at elevators. Four elevators only two operational during our four day stay. One of two was also employee elevator.

Loved our stay! Pros: pool/breakfast/ right on the beach/ restaurants near Cons/ parking is small and uphill only few elevators working But over all we would definitely stay here again!

The property was very nice. However, the staff was so unfriendly and rude. I had gone to the front desk for something and there were 3 employees talking (I believe they may have been training) and one employee on the phone. Not once did any of the 3 look up and acknowledge that I was waiting. I had to wait until the employee was off the phone. When we checked out the only thing that was said was ‘we will process your departure and send you an email’. The gentleman never asked how our stay was or said thank you for staying with us. The beach was terrible because of the tar balls. I understand that happens when the weather gets warmer but it was tracked in everywhere. 1st time to Texas and we most definitely won’t be back.
